I have worked a few places and find regardless of where I work or who I am talking to if they have to point to something on my screen they have to touch it. What is the deal with this, I feel violated. That is my personal space and I should be the only one to touch it. It does not matter if it is an engineer, office person, a guy from the shop with greasy hands, or the guy in the cubicle next to me, they all do it.

Is it that hard to hold your finger, pen, or pencil an inch or two away from the screen when pointing at it? I have a nice clean screen and someone comes in to talk to me and while pointing out changes that need to be made they are plastering finger prints all over the screen. I have had guys pointing with their pen or pencil at the screen (and they alway use the point) and moving it along and kind of drawing how the part needs to be and as soon as they leave I look a little closer at my screen and there is a pen drawing on my screen. Today my supervisor was showing me something on my white board and referring to my screen and tapping with the open end of the dry erase marker on my screen leaving little dots.

I keep telling people "don't write on the screen", but the concept doesn't seem to make sense to people. I wonder if I need to get a big sign that says "Touch my screen and I will rip your arm off!" It is one of those things that you are not paying full attention to what they are saying becuase you are watching their finger get dangerously close to the screen and you are thinking: "Are they going to touch the screen, should I say something? No don't say anything becuase if they don't touch it I don't want to come across like a jerk. Ok, maybe they won't touch it, they are almost done." And then bam, they plaster a big print or two right in the middle of the screen.

I have decided this is an annoyance I will have to live with for the rest of my career. I can't believe there has not been a Dilbert cartoon about this.

I hate this. Keep your dang greasy fingers on my screen, I don't want to look at their smudge mark all day.

Leave a large knife on your desk. Splatter some ketchup on it and on one of your drawers.

When asked about it explain that it is used to chop off the fingers that touch your screen and the drawer is your collection so far. Hint that they heed the warning.

It infuriates me when someone comes into my cube at work and starts touching my screen. Its a 23" Apple Cinema display... I know, its not 'mine' but come on, show some respect!

It's almost as bad as people who pick up pens off your desk and click them using their teeth.

My boss points at stuff with his pen, using the nib end :| He's drawn on my screen twice so far, 2 days in a row. I wanted to punch him so hard as he sat there trying to scrape it off :|

lmao, my grandparents just upgraded to a new Dell with an LCD (their first) and my grandmother kept touching the screen. I practically had to start slapping her hand away.

Warn them they might get a slight static electric shock if they touch your screen and stand by with a taser secreted under your desk.

What's even worse is when they argue with you that they are not actually touching your screen, but they clearly are.

I hate that on an LCD because it could hurt it and it's hard to clean off. A CRT is less of a prob, but it's still damn annoying.

I almost wrote on my LCD here with a dry erase marker when I was writing something on my whiteboard . I don't mind people touching my LCDs here since well... they're not mine (I don't really like fingerprints, but I can excuse some as long as they aren't visible). But don't ever touch my personal LCDs.
