What's the best bang for the buck for real world performance? Does the list of "Not as good" SSDs from the stickied buying guide fit the bill?

I want something reliable too. Are the "Not as good" SSDs less reliable than the top recommended drives from the list?

I'm not going to be gaming, so probably no huge loads. This will be used for a tablet as a note taking/internet browsing machine. Some of my notes do get decently big with onenote and audio recording.

Crucial m4 is cheap and reliable. Not the fastest but still a solid performer.

m4 = cheap, solid, reliable.
830 = arguably the fastes ssd on the market, solid, reliable.

Personally I wouldn't look at any other SSD. They're either Sandforce, OCZ, or a similar to the m4.

Any of the top brand SSD's, Intel, Crucial, Plextor, Samsung, Corsair. You won't see much Real world performances difference among them.

Thanks, I think I'll get the samsung. It's $10 cheaper for the 64GB at $75 and it looks faster on the benchmarks

Also I see a microcenter 64GB SSD on ebay for $50 used. Would that be a good buy as well? It's on the recommended drive list on the SSD page.

I'm guessing the warranty would still be valid. Would I notice a performance difference?

I was going to get the 700 dollar sammy 830 512GB , but then I asked myself, is it right to pay 700 dollars for a storage device. I mean twice the price of video card or CPU.

So I made the decision to go with M4 512GB at $399.99 to the door.
I love it poor thing is sad tho she wants a sata 3 conn, Im using sata 2 of my mobo , so Im losing half the performance sequential read or write.. My PCIe is only 1.0 , bandwidth is 2mbps. So ya Im @ 260mbps and 244mbps write at sata 2. when I get a new system I will put this in sata 3 ,,,,,, and enjoy sub 500..
