Looks like this HDD was in a server. A Windows iis server with an AMD64 CPU to be exact.

LMAO! I'm running recovery software on the HDD and EaseUs Datarecovery says there are 306 files and counting. Unreal!

Edit- Over 1,100 now.

About the "new" Hmm, didn't see that. Whoops.
I would report them to Amazon for sending used instead of new.
Running time is over 4 years.

I initiated a return. How do I report them to Amazon?

Pretty good drive due to the high hours its ran. It's why I picked this particular drive.

Nothing interesting yet, a lot of VERY large video files. Thing is my primary drive is a 120GB SSD so it's hard to copy these 6 GB files over with only about 16GB left on the SSD. Most of the files are not readable.

If the seller denies my refund what recourse do I have using a debt card? I'm now wondering if I should have placed my PayPal card on file and use that in Amazon for more protection. I don't own a credit card as my credit is shot to hell.

You can use Amazon's chat and do it that way, pretty painless.
Paypal would have been easier in this situation, but, I see no reason for them to deny your claim, and Amazon is pretty good about this, and they don't want to be blacklisted.

Also leave a review telling other people that they are selling used drives.

Most HDs usually fail early on, or and the end of its life, it looks like a bathtub curve.
Too bad it isn't possible to know how much longer that drive would have lasted.

Got my new drive from Amazon a few days ago. This time there are no reallocated sectors, BUT the damn thing has a power on count of 65 and over 36,000 hours of use! WTF!

Bought it from uBestDeals. Now they want $51 and I payed $41! How about that crap. Same with the other vendor I bought from, Finity India.

IF you bought it as NEW and not used then you should not accept a used drive. But USED costs more? I would be weary of buying old drive models like this. New drive models seems to cost over $60.. Reliable drive or not I would even go for a recent seagate drive rather than older drives. REMEMBER, you can not re-write all the servo data onto the platters and they only last so long. The head alignment and weak magnetic fields can cause problems as the drive gets older, even if they have been sitting on a bench the last 5 years. Although magnetic domains are supposed to last for a long time, the media itself can cause problems. It is just sprayed on and like paint will chip off or come loose. Actually a working drive that lasted 5 years will last longer than one that was just sitting around. That is because the working drive would have failed already if there was a problem while the one sitting around might have problems that just like a house that is not lived in for a long time. All electronics are the same way. I had a lap top that was not used for a few years and the lcd screen developed bubbles.. Same with the palm top and PDA..

I did leave a review yesterday saying what a crock they were for sending used drives marked as new. Got a return label in my E-mail so will send this back and buy the HDD I seen on NewEgg.

Speaking of old drives... I have booted a few older drives and they still had data on them. Quantum Fireball I think it was. These drives must have been 500 MB or so.

In the E-mail they sent me it had broken English and said some BS that some used drives get mixed with new drives. I don't buy it.

In the future I'm going to use my PayPal debt card on Amazon from now on just in case, but I don't intend on buying another HDD on Amazon again. Like I said, the fisrt HDD I ever bought on Amazon was a WD 320 GB that died in a month. That was many years ago. Now that I went through this crap I'm not buying a drive from Amazon again. Will use real vendors like NewEgg, TigerDirect, etc. You know, you buy from Amazon thinking you are buying a "new" HDD, but they have disingenuous sellers. How was I supposed to know? No more making the Amazon mistake again.
