Yo Rufio! : )

Harry Potter series is pretty good. I like them, although I think the last one was sort of not what I was expecting after I read the first 4. Its light reading for the most part.

If you're looking for something heavier (meaning more thinking and doesn't always have happy endings) there's this collection of short stories, Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. She really has a way with words and she can take everyday incidents and really make you go "Wow!" Actually, the book won the Pulitzer a couple years back.

EWW! Harry Potter is teh suck.

If you like fantasy fiction, go for the Discworld books, much better than HP.

LoTR could be a read for a long flight, and I personally like books by Stephen Leather (thrillers), Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy.

Harry Potter isn't a hard read, nor is it a very complicated or deeply thought series of books. But it is a fun read and I highly reccomend them for a fun time

What kind of books do you like?

I had some summer reading to do this summer and I thouroughly enjoyed the book "A Year in Provence" by Peter Mayle. Its about just that, Mr. Mayle spending a year in Provence, France. I also suggest reading the Diablo series books if you like diablo. I have read "Legacy of Blood" in the Diablo book series and I loved it. I'm not big on books, so I dont have many to suggest

go with harry potter (in paperback! you don't want to carry 'em on in hardback)..

I haven't read anything I'd call REALLY good in ages.. well.. that I'd recomend to a guy, anyway. try Enchantment, orson scott card. that was good enough that I still remember it was good some years later.

It depends on what you like to read...

Funny books are always good:
- Any of David Sedaris' books.. he writes very funny essays, like Naked or Me Talk Pretty One Day

- Hokkaido Highway Blues by Will Ferguson is also quite funny. A guy, on a bet said he would hitchhike from the one end of japan to the other and this is just a book about his experiences

Long Books for Long Flights:
- I love 100 years of solitude by Garbriel Garcia Marquez.... its a magical realism book, so it's not for everyone, but things like the whole town gets insomnia or the town's founder is tied to a tree for years, etc.

- If you like fantasy books, George R.R. Martin writes a huge huge series, like 800 pages per book about these different families fighting to be king. I believe the first is a clash of kings.

Finally if you want to learn something:

- All the president's men by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein... just to find out about Watergate and Woodward writes quite well

- Red China Blues by Jan Wong writes about her experience as a Canadian who is one of the first undergraduates allowed to study at Beijing University during the height of the cultural revolution.. she does write about Tiananmen Square and her point of view during that time..

Also i do like Harry Potter, it seems like an excellent plane book.

Okay now that i've written an essay, i hope this helped and i don't see too long-winded.

If you are into black comedies when it comes to movies, you would love "Moon Palace" by Paul Auster.

One of my most treasured finds ever. It got my friendto buy every paul auster book ever made, after I had him read it.
