It's been said before, but this is certainly an aspect that needs to be scrutinized as to why black people have certain problems, the culture itself (and why 97% of black deaths are at the hands of other black men.)

Throwing yet more welfare, more Planned Parenthood, more affirmative action just isn't going to help anyone when the whole culture is toxic to begin with. Anyone attempting to do different/better is bombarded with "Uncle Tom", "acting white", and "betraying their race". *sigh*

When I think of the inner city visions of gun violence, homelessness, crime, drugs, broken families, disease, death, garbage, graffiti, alcoholism, beatings, and so on...

Now, stick a child in that mess. How do you combat such negativity when it's so dominate? Even if we were to build new schools, tear down the old buildings, chase out the dealer's, etc... In 5 years it's going to go right back to being a hellish place that is impossible to live in.

I blame welfare, loss of good paying jobs and drugs for much of what's happened to the inner-city today. This has been going on for decades and we act surprised. We've created this mess and I don't think we can change it. So, we try to ignore it. Until it blows up in our face.

I've been to some very poor areas in SE Asia and not once was I afraid. I coukd never say the same for going into an inner city. I wouldn't feel safe going into the slums of Brazil or Mexico. I still think easy access to guns has much to do with much of the violence we see. You can't get a gun so easily in Thailand, China, Vietnam, or Korea. Yet, you can get a gun very easily in Brazil, USA, and Mexico. And drugs are rampant in all three. Not so in Asia and SE Asia. Finally, education is pursued heavily in Asia and SE Asia. Not so in America, Brazil and Mexico.

Topic title is misleading. This thread is about black people and not minorities. I have yet to see any Mexicans, Indians, or Asians marching along side blacks. In private chat rooms, blacks are being mocked and laughed at for this fictitious injustice.
