Reasons You Stopped Going To Bars/Clubs?

for me it was a number of reasons.

1. Too much smoke. it was disgusting back then. your clothes needed to be washed badly after going out. yuck.

2. drunk loud-mouthed jackasses. I am sure many on here have dealt with this. they are usually looking for a fight; acting all tough and shit. the women were almost as bad.

3. dumbass bouncers. acting like they owned the place. trying to pick up any decent looking chic that came in. did you enjoy having your shoulder dislocated? next time don't put your hands on me for no reason.

4. lechers. random guys trying to pickup anything with a pulse. normally I don't care, but when you try this with my GF I tend to get angry. If a women tells you to get lost then do it. Don't make me have to do it for you. I shouldn't have to waste my time dealing with your stupid ass.

I was usually the designated driver, so I was sober and able to see all the BS around me. Going to bars was fun for a while but then it wore off and the fun was gone.

The English dart league folded. I've never been a big fan of bars. I liked old quiet places mid day before the crowds showed up, but otherwise, I only went for live music or pub games.

Reasons you gave (among others) are some reasons why I never had any interest in the first place. Always sounded like a waste of time and money to me.

I never stopped. I just go less frequently. The kind of things you see if you "people watch" is way more entertaining to me than what you see on TV nowadays.

1. a lot of clubs/bars now are smoke free

2. people tend to be more preppy nowadays regardless of income and/or background

3. I know a handful of bouncers that actually have 6 figure incomes from their day job. then again i know most that fit your description.

4. lechers, as you described, have been around since before humans had spoken language and will only get worse until we get to the "idiocracy" stage.

Cheaper and easier to buy booze and invite friends over.

Pretty much.

I never officially stopped, I just usually don't find that scene much fun any more. Nightclubs beat you to deaf with pop and techno music all night, and charge overly inflated prices for drinks. Bars packed wall to wall with bodies aren't any fun either.

However every place I've lived has always had some sort of lower key bar/lounge where an older, calmer crowd chooses to frequent.

...sometimes we get the itch to do the club/bar scene though. It's still fun on occasion. And I do like watching important games at bars with fellow fans.

Lots of reasons...

Kids...pita to find sitters that you can trust
Money
Got older
Quit drinking

Too many fucking douche-bags
Musical tastes/trends changed...not necessarily for the better

and on and on and on...but the ones in BOLD are the most important reasons

I have been court ordered to stay away from bars, I have this problem where I rip out bad guys throats with my bare hands when they really piss me off.

In other words...one drink makes you hallucinate?

Don't have anyone to go with. It's usually just the SO and I, and that has gotten old after 9 years. We still hit the local happy hour once in a while (especially the ones with good food) and will go clubbing if we go out of town but we stopped going out once/week like we used to.

I had a bit of an attitude problem back then.

I was also in great shape as well. I didn't take crap from anyone and had a very short fuse.

I didn't realize he was a bouncer. I thought he was just a random doucebag. The manager of the place offered me a job as doorman, but I turned it down.
