Rebate Cards

I got a rebate card from Verizon for buying a phone and its like a pre-paid credit card thing. I really hate these stupid things because I always forget how much is on them and I never spend the full amount. Anyone know of an easy way to just be able to deposit the rebate into like a checking account?

SPeaking of this, they gave me an instant rebate in store for $100...so I paid $199 on the receipt, but the receipt also says I am "Rebate eligible" and included all of my $100 mail in rebate info.

What are the chances they will accept my $100 mail in rebate???

Does it have credit card logos on it? A serial number? How did Verizon tell you to redeem it?

It's a prepaid Visa or MC. I know of no easy way to convert it to cash, unless you want to sell it to someone for 80-90% of face value.

Yeah its got a visa logo on it, and the normal 16 digit card number. I think its just like one of the pre-paid visa gift card things.

Look on the back. Is there not a website there where you can enter the card # and check the balance?

Use it like cash.

Yep. This is what was in the fine print for some rebates I just filled out recently. Or you can call the number on the back and ask for a check to be made out.

You can also create a new paypal acct and send yourself payments with the rebates cards. There is a 2.9% + $0.30 fee though.

I usually just buy amazon giftcards of the whole amount. I figure I will spend the money eventually.

I bought a Newegg gift card with mine and just sent it to myself. Worked just fine!

I look for combinations of stuff where the total = exact amount on the card.

I opted for this because It did not require me leaving my chair, I already had another paypal that I havent used in ages and I found out I had $3.00 in it! Woot so that pretty much covered the paypal fee.

This. I did that with mine. Just take it in and have them charge $(total amount) to the card, and deposit it in your account
