Bought a canon printer from Staples and it comes with 2 rebates. The first rebate says i need the upc. ok i get that. but the second one asks for the following:

This rebate is not eligible for online submission. It must be mailed. Your envelope containing this claim form, the entire red Secondary Proof of Purchase 12-digit UPC bar code cut from the inside flap of the Canon PIXMA MP210 Photo All-In-One box and a legible copy of your sales receipt from Staples or Staples.com with the printer purchase circled must be postmarked no later than January 30, 2008 and received no later than February 13, 2008 to qualify. Purchase of a new Canon PIXMA MP210 Photo All-In-One from Staples or Staples.com must be made between July 1, 2007 and December 30, 2007 to be eligible for the offer.

I called staples and they dont know.

i opened the box up and everything i cant see it. i am taking it back. thanks for the response.

Seems to me this box has two UPCs, one on the outside that the register scans and another somewhere on the interior of the box for the express purpose of redeeming a second rebate.

So you can't find this second UPC? Maybe look for something that says "Proof of purchase" or similar but doesn't have a full UPC barcode? Although the text of the rebate makes it seems like you should be able to find a second barcode somewhere.

Yup, just the latest scam to avoid paying out the rebates.

I am still waiting for the late night informercial, with Tom Wu selling a get rich quick scam of starting your own rebate clearing house, and never paying out any rebates, keeping 100% of the rebate processing money from the retailer or manufacturer. Wait! Is Tom Wu *STILL* in jail, or did they just deport him?

I think primary would be the item, receipt, or packaging. Secondary would be a derivative of the item. Print out a test page from the printer and send that in. That should be a secondary proof of purchase.
