I sent this rebate (with on-line form) in on 11-9-2002 and their website hasn't changed from new status yet. I was going to give it another week, but if you call, let me know what they say.

Their "20 Days" claim is ludicrous. They mailed two (2) weeks ago (according to their website) my last rebate which was filed online on 18 Sep 02 - I still haven't seen it. Out of five (5) rebates filed, only one was approved - all others were rejected as having been mailed past the postmark date, which is pure crap! The only one that wasn't rejected was the last rebate, which I sent delivery confirmation (I'm building a case against them).

The FujiFilm rebate center in Riverton New Jersey, is worse than the New Roachhotel rebate fulfillment center (TCA - New Rochelle, New York). Their telephone CSRs are rude, hang-up on you, and have blatantly lied to me in the past ("yes sir, your rebate has been mailed...." - only to subsequently receive a rejection card). Their website has been-down for extended periods (ie. days) just when a major rebate period is closing, so you cannot file the rebate online, which their rebate instructions state "must" be filed online (rebate item - Fuji Zip disks) - and that's even if the item even shows-up on their website. When their telephone system places you on-hold, the lines sounds as if it's gone dead (ie. you've been disconnected). Why is there not even any of that "elevator" background music (or even static?), do they want you to think you've been disconnected so you hang-up????

These clowns are next on my "hit list" - I'm currently documenting their "practices" and will be filing mail fraud claims with the post office and New Jersey AG's office the next time they reject (or cause to be rejected) a rebate. If anyone else has had this or similar problems, please contact me....

CompUSA:
I bought a laptop on Black Friday, which included the "PC Gift Pack" shown in the black friday ad. CompUSA ran out of rebates for the Norton Antivirus Bundle (SKU #296397 ?). Also, they ran out of rebates for the Philips 50PK 40X 80MIN CD-R's (SKU #296493 and 296for the morning earlybird. I cannot find any of these online and am not near a B&M anymore. If anyone could point me in the right direction or provide a rebate scan it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Ack. So Best Buy rebates are crappy? I've got about $80 worth of BB rebates I'm waiting for (4 weeks since mailing now.) I'll have to hold off on committing to any more then, at least until they earn some credibility...

I wasn't sure if I should post it here or in Best Buy "black friday" thread, since I haven't even mailed my rebates yet, but since this is rebate thread I'll ask here.
I got a problem with few Best Buy rebates:
1. I got on the HD+RAM deal, but when I bought it on friday salesman either scanned wrong upc or the system had it wrong, so it came out on my receipt as a memory only, and no rebate. When I went to ask for rebate at the customer service, lady there noticed that I wasn't charged for the hardrive, so she then charged me for the HD ONLY on the other (separate) receipt and printed the combo rebate. Then I went home and noticed, that the memory on my original receipt is incorect and I've been overcharged! I went back she fixed that and so now I got 2 receipts 1 for memory and 1 for HD. My problem is, since it's $110 rebate (so it's no joke) am I gonna have problems if I'll mail in these 2 receipts + package rebate? I'm not sure if correct receipt says anything about it being a combo? Time and Dates are also now different on both receipts. Also now I got 3 upcs 1-yellow that was on the plastic wrapper that both items were packaged in, 1-ram receipt and 1-HD receipt, should I sent in all 3? Should I mail in any explanation? I really don't wanna lose on this deal, since I bought it only because it was a deal (not to meantion I was standing in cold since 5am)
2. BFG video card says that they will take copy of the upc. Misprint? Or should I mail in the original anyway?
3. I ain't got enough copies of receipts (printed by Best Buy) to cover all rebates, I assume xerox copies of receipts will be ok, right?
(I think I'm forgeting something, so I'll ask later if I recall it)

1) You should be ok sending a copy of each receipt ( 1 for HD and 1 for RAM) as long as they are both dated 11/29. Make sure you send in the original, correct UPC for the HD and RAM.

2) Send a copy of the BFG UPC as per the rebate instructions. Other people have called the BB rebate center and confirmed this is correct. This rebate is being paid by BB (not the manufacturer) so you should be ok.

3) A xerox copy of the receipts is ok unless the rebate form specifically states to send the original. Rebates sponsored by BB rarely have this requirement.

MAKE SURE YOU MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SEND IT IN JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE PROBLEMS AND FOLLOW UP ON THE REBATES.

I've been referred to this thread as the best place to ask rebate questions:

I grabbed a WD 200 GB HD at BestBuy last week, & I'm finally getting around to sending in the rebate.

Rather than attempt to fill out the miniscule form they printed on receipt tape, I scanned it & filled it in with nice high quality text. Will they take a print out of this, as long as the receipt + UPC is the original?

It's quite nice printed out, but I don't want to risk my $130 on a technicality.

No, my comments are in reference to the FujiFilm rebate fulfillment center in Riverton New Jersey. The CD-Rs were purchased at Best Buy, but Best Buy IS NOT handling the rebate, FujiFilm fulfillment center is....

hello.

a repost from the other rebate thread...

i guess this is kinda a silly question. i was just wondering how everyone sends in their rebates. i recently bought some stuff, (a maxtor 120gb hd $30 + $30 MIR, and philips cdr $14 MIR, from compusa.) I wonder if people use certified mails, or send them in by normal mail. And also if anyone experienced losing the sent rebates in the mail, what happens then? never done these before.

thanks !

Certified mail was somethig I was thinking about myself (aftere several problems with rebates,) untill I noticed that all rebates are directed to PO Box, so there is no one to signed them for.
Make xerox copies of all UPC, receipts and rebates (I do it after I fill them out.) Whenever something is missing I always start sending them angry, but polite emails, about how I'm not gonna shop with them ever again. So far it worked with 3 rebates that got "lost".

Warning;

cendyne and possibly Verbatim rebates on cd-rws are not being fulfilled. Many phonecalls from not just me but other have confirmed the companies have yet to send money to get the checks cut. Do not buy any of their products. Cendyne might be about to close it doors and leave alot of people without money. Some Verbatims drives are just Cendynes and the money has to come from Cendyne. You have been warned.

I am wondering about this too.
For the 120GB it says to "Mail in both completed coupon, original UPC code & clear copy of dated sales receipt to the address listed on the $50 MIR." Don't know if this applies to the 80GB but this is probably what I will do.

For the 80GB, it asks for both completed coupons, original UPC, and copy of receipt to two different addresses for the MIR. The box doesn't have two UPCs, so how can I get the rebates?

Heads-up everyone....

"WhereTheHellIsMyRebate".com has a new website interface....

The surprising thing is that its actually somewhat useful :Q :Q :Q

Not only can you "track" your rebates filed with them, you [now] can also....

  1. - submit rebates online (just like Parago/RebatesHQ.com);
    - download and/or print online rebates; and,
    - search current rebate promotions (the source for all those multi-rebate hot-deals)....

Here's the *biggy*, you can do the last function for rebate items which have yet to be "on promotion".... :Q :Q :Q

cendyne and possibly Verbatim rebates on cd-rws are not being fulfilled.

Apparently so, since I just got an email today from parago informing me that my Staples/cendyne rebate was "invalid", because they didn't receive the correct serial# for the 40x12x48 CD-RW drive. The B&M Staples I bought it from was out of the 40x12x48 but assured me the rebate would be honored on the 48x12x48 Cendyne drive I purchased. It rang up for the same $59.95 pre rebate price, so I assumed they were telling the truth. Now I am stuck with a drive that I cannot return since I had to send in the Proof of Purchase label from the original packaging, yet I am denied the $50 mail in rebate that I was promised. I called Staples online and they said I need to contact the local store where I purchased it, and they would "straighten it out". Of course the local store where I purchased it is 230 miles away from where I live (was visiting family on Thanksgiving weekend). So my wife will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. If they deny my rebate and make no effort to compensate me, I will be contacting the State Attorney General's Office. What they did is called "Bait and Switch" and is expressly illegal and prosecutable. If I am unsuccessful, I guess I won't be shopping at Staples anymore. a shame, since they do have some very good deals on occasion.

Update 12-6-02 Spoke to the Staples where I purchased the drive. They claimed I could take my rebate proof and email denial to the local Staples and they would give me cash. Tried that, no go. But they did offer to intercede on my behalf and get me a $50 Staples gift card in 4 weeks. I guess that's okay if it comes through. Then I will find a coupon on line, use the gift card and get a hard drive or something for real cheap..
Update 12-22-02 The Staples where I bought the CDRW told my wife that I needed to send in the UPC label with the serial no. to the resubmission address. I sent it in two weeks ago, it is still being denied. I guess I will have to go back to the store this weekend when I visit my parents and raise a little Cain with them, since I scanned everything I sent in and they owe me $50 since I would not have purchased the Cendyne drive without the rebate. And I did everything I was supposed to do. Wish me luck.

You should just have to explain the situation to your LOCAL staples manager and they should give you the $50 right there. Take in whatever proof you have (copies of the UPC, reciept, etc) and explain POLITELY. I think a lot of stores get a lot of flack from customers who get denied rebates so they are used to giving them the $$ right there. YMMV but good luck!

It's under the name KHypermedia in the rebate catalog. Check the SKU#'s, and you'll see they'll match up.

Just for the record, regarding the idea of sending a rebate certified mail but then wondering if that would do any good since they are all PO boxes.

I sent in a rebate on a WD hard drive, being handled by YA. I sent it certified mail + return receipt requested. It went to a PO box, but a couple weeks later I got back my return receipt, stamped with a person's name, date, and YA FULFILLMENT on it. A worker at the PO certainly couldn't sign on behalf of YA Fulfillment or one of it's employees.

So me no thinks it's a PO box in the way we think of a PO box maybe.
