Got my 30$ rebate for the Maxtor 80g from Office Depot and my $50 for the Cendyne DVD Birner from Office Max. Just one more to go, the $100 for the 200g Maxtor from CompUSA.

Knock on wood, all have been from RebatesHQ in Miami, the $100 is also.

$30 Best Buy - Logitech MX700
Mailed 3/3/03
Received 4/7/03

$50 Compaq - Compaq 6000Z from Staples
Mailed 2/26/03
Received 4/7/03
*I had to call because my rebate was rejected (even though I called the rebate center twice while I was filling out the forms - to make sure I was doing it correctly).

Anyone get the $28 from Best Buy for 256 MB Crucial PC2100 DDR memory - from 2/16/03 sale ?

I got mine back and the check bounced ! My bank then charged me $5 for the bounce so I'm out $33. I called Best Buy and will stop by the store tomorrow after first stopping by the bank to get more info. The rebate was processed in Calais ME (Watts NCH Promotional Service Ltd) and the check was drawn from a Canadian bank (TD Canada Trust) payable in "U.S. Funds". The check bounced back with a stamp with 3 choices - "sent wrong", "non-cash", "other". The "sent wrong" box was checked which tells me absolutely nothing.

I called Best Buy and they've never heard of anything like this. I'm pretty sure they'll take care of it, but I'm annoyed at having to take the time to go over there to fix someone else's mistake.

Argh, I just deposited this check today. I guess I'll have to wait and see if it bounces.

Well, here's an update on this. I went to the bank to ask what "Sent Wrong" meant. After a few calls by the CS, she said that this Canadian check was not payable through the Federal Reserve system. To cash it, it must go through "collection" which she estimates would likely cost more than the face value of the check. If you look at the top of the check (if yours bounces !), you'll see it says "payable through TD Canada Trust, 31 West 52nd St, NY, NY 10019-6101" so I guess that's where it must be cashed or collected.

I just came back from Best Buy where the manager xeroxed all the paperwork and credited me $28 (rebate amount) + $5 (bank fee) directly to my CC. It was processed as a price-match so they even gave me tax (she called it gas money; damn right !). They had never seen this before either; and given how few samples they stock per sale item, I doubt they'll see many more.

Lessons from this - always keep copies of your rebates (we all know that right ?) and don't take crap from the processing centers.

Good luck with yours !

I have deposited at least 10 BB rebate checks at my credit union during the past year without any problems. I wonder if it's an issue or fluke with your bank?

I've also deposited BB checks in the past; none were drawn from a Canadian bank until this one. And this is the first time I've come across "Watts NCH Promotional Service Ltd". My bank is Fleet; a decently large bank in the NorthEast so I'm pretty sure they're "full-featured" as far as what they can and cannot do. Well, I guess there's a first time for everything ! Hopefully you'll have better luck ! Let us know what happens.

Well I tried searching for it here but couldn't find it. If I remember right it was something to do with Progressive over charging people, I am not sure on this but I think it was for the year 2000 - 2001 and it was $10 per 6 months, anyways I got $20 since I had them for a year. :light:

I received a note today - 12 weeks to the day from when I submitted my rebate that it was incorrect.

I call YM and they say "oh it is ok - 4-6 weeks you should have your check"

i got into a heated discussion with the manager and she basically said "you were supposed to send in the original upc" I said "it says right here COPIES ARE ACCEPTED and SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL UPC"

So now I must wait 18 weeks or more to get my rebate

FYI this rebate was for the FUJI DVD DISKS FROM JANUARY

Thanks!

hi, guys, i m new in here and in the US either. i m young and illiterate about financial stuff. i have some question about rebate:

if my name is A, i live in address 1, and i have a friend B who live in address 2.

1/ in the rebate form, i wrote down the info : name A and address 2. so, when the rebate check is sent to the address 2, the information written on the check is to Mr A, address 2. could i deposit that check into my bank account (bank account A)?

2/ in the receipt of 2 exactly same products (which are ordered online at the same time to save shipping fee----> there is only one receipt for both products), it shows that the buyer is A, and the shipping address is 1. so, when i fill out two sseperate rebate form of those two products, i write down name A and addr 1 on one form, and name A and addr 2 on the other one. then send them along with two copy of the receipt. would that be acceptable by the rebate policy?

3/if i have a checking account from Citi bank, how could my friend in another country could deposit to my account? assuming that there is no CitiBank in that country. in case there is a Citibank in that country, will i give him my account number of my checking account to deposit? is it safe to give someone your checking account number?

i know this is not a right place for me to ask these questions, but i cant find someone to ask. besides, i think people in here are good about financial stuff because this forum is for savvy shoppers
please help me with those questions above
any reply would be a big help to me. appreciate all reply, thanks

1. if u want to cash a cheque, most bank will ask for ID. It's solely up to the bank policy whether to cash the cheque or not if your id address mismatch your rebate cheque address

2. Most rebate is only limited & valid to 1 per household/name/address/etc.

3. Most rebate is limited to US or canada only. So you can forget your friend in another country part.

You should RTFM, aka Read the rebate coupon/receipt policy carefully before asking question -> common sense..

Alert!
NYC nuked ! Saddam buys US presidency ! how else you explain TCA sending $10 CompUSA keyboard rebate out in under two months .. ..the world has ended...free CompUSA(FMI?) keyboard(ps/2) now serving duty with an older lady with lupus. always someone less fortunate than we are who never are able to get in on some of these deals due to being stuck out in the sticks, financially/mobility-impaired,etc

Looks like Logitech is sticking to us. Has anyone received their 20%?

I submitted this rebate too, and when I checked with them 10 weeks later, they said they didn't even have a record of it. I called the # provided on the Logitech rebate promotion which put me through to a CSR at rebateshq in Florida. I was told to fax all information again, which I did. But I just checked my rebate status on rebateshq.com and it isn't even showing up.

Looks like I lost out on $7.60 on this one....I'm not going to invest too much more time tracking it down anymore.
