Is this a common occurrance?

A lot of the rebates from Easierrebate (particularly from Officemax) are combined onto one check. It's possible (even likely) that you cashed a mutiple rebate check and didn't realize it. Compare the mailed/cashed dates (so that they're the same) to some other rebate that you know you received, and it was likely combined with that one.

Anyway, one set of these rebates were approved no problem; the other set (that my mom purchased, ahem) had the modem approved by the CD-RW rebate denied because it was a limit of one per promotion. Laff. It just goes to show that even the rebate company reps don't know what's going on.

I'll be calling to get the other rebate validated

Isn't it always amusing how in such a situation, the cheapest of the two is approved and the most expensive is rejected?

That said, the rebate form says one rebate per person, it does NOT say one rebate per item, per person. Unlike belkin, or officemax store rebates, and so on. The rebate company reps know what's going on, it's SUPPOSED to be only ONE rebate for a given promotion number, and most of the vets by now should be well aware that if you do more than one you'll get rejected and have to call to get it validated. As you're one of the most frequent vets here, I'm surprised you'd think the rebate center had it backwards.

Actually, that isn't true. Just to clear this up as it has been discussed in the OMax threads, here's the actual text from the denial:

"We apologize for the misunderstanding, but your rebate is invalid because this promotion allows only one rebate per item per household. A postcard acknowledging your invalid reason will be mailed to you."

So, for the current OMax/Cendyne promotion, it *IS* one rebate per item per household and whoever processed/denied this particular rebate was in error.

For that date and time, there were only the 2 rebates $13 for Spin-X CD and $20 for a Curtis phone digital answering machine. They could have been combined but I don't have any records of a rebate check for $33. Nor do I have records of $13 or $20 rebate checks. They calim the rebate was cashed on July 31, 2003.

Supposedly they will sent me a copy of the cancelled checks.

Circuit City Centon 256MB PC133

Sale around July 6-12.
$40 - $ 25 MFR Rebate - $15 CC Rebate = Free AR

Rebates sent in July 17. Circuit City $15 received yesterday August 12th. That's one of the fastest turn around time on rebates I've ever had! Way to go Circuit City.

The bad part... MFR Centon rebate not even showing up on their rebate tracking site.

Centon Rebate Status

Looking at their rebate requirements... Looks like they're trying anything they can to disquaify rebates. Not a good sign... Rebate form says 10 weeks to start processing. *Sigh*

I'm still awaiting a $100 rebate from a CompUSA Maxtor 200GB hard drive deal since March. It says the rebate has been in processing since March 22, 2003 and a check should be sent within the next 30 days. Insane. I've emailed them about 4 or 5 times only to receive their stupid form letter response about it'll be sent out within the next 30 days. This is the last time I buy anything with a rebate that goes to Parago/rebateshq. Does calling any of the numbers listed above help? I'm about to report these clowns to the BBB/attorney general - maybe enough complaints will get them some notice from the AG? The sad thing is these morons are located within driving distance from me, too. Maybe I should show up at their doorsteps? hehe.

Well I went ahead and called Parago. They said that nothing seems to be wrong with my account. The guy supposedly talked to his supervisor who told him there's been a delay with processing those request. I told him my idea of a delay is a month or 2, not 5 months. He said there's nothing he could do about it and to call back in about 2 weeks if I haven't received my check. Knuckleheads... arrgggg.

I recieved this week

1) $30 MIR from K-byte from the Best Buy sale around 4/6. This is the one that had the problem with the different UPC number. you had to call the rebate center to have the status changed from rejected to approved.

2)$10 MIR onb Best Data Modem bought at OM on 4/2. For this one, I had to visit the Best data web page and submit their rebate inquire form. I did that and recieved the check about 2 weeks later.

I finally received the second of the $30 rebates today for the Staples Maxtor 80GB deal in early May.
I can now put that one to bed.

Digital Research (I/O Magic)
52 x 24 x 52 CD-RW
Best Buy on 03/16/03

net price $10

$30 Best Buy rebate came months ago and the $10 I/O Magic rebate about 10 days ago. My thanks to the AnandTech member who warned that I/O Magic seems to wait until you email them about the late rebate.

WTF? Parago just rejected one of my Cendyne rebates from 7/22-26 by some BS reason for per rebate/household. They have seriously stuped very low. If I can't get it, I'm filing BBB a complaint. Anybody has suggestion?

SANTA ANA ¡V CenDyne Inc. was forced to shut down Monday after a state judge ruled that it had to repay a Taiwanese creditor more than $20 million.

CenDyne, one of the biggest brands in computer DVD drives, already was reeling from mounting losses and top-level resignations.

For the first six months this year, CenDyne lost $17.5 million, which spurred the lawsuit from Test Rite International, the Taiwanese investor that provided CenDyne with inventory and services. Test Rite seized control of the company two weeks ago.

On Thursday, California Superior Court Judge Robert H. Gallivan ordered CenDyne to pay its creditors and appointed Robb Evans & Associates as receiver.

"We're trying to liquidate the assets of the company for the benefit of the creditors," said Brick Kane, chief operating officer at Robb Evans.
"
.......
McCalla and Miles are also CEO and CFO at the U.S. division of Test Rite. Test Rite, which provides packaging, design and logistics to retailers, invested $4.5 million in CenDyne last summer, gaining 42 percent of the company, said Test Rite.

Test Rite, based locally in Ontario, took control of the privately held CenDyne after founders Ed Meadows, Mo Vahdati and Dean Vahdati, abruptly resigned.

Test Rite's lawsuit alleged that the trio made false statements "with the intent to defraud and deceive" Test Rite in order to attract investment.

Test Rite said it had discovered in November that CenDyne had doled out $2.4 million in "secret" consumer rebates and price guarantees to retailers, which caused CenDyne to restate its financial reports.

Another $2.8 million in rebates was discovered in July, the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit alleged that CenDyne owed Test Rite $22.7 million for the purchase of goods, rebate liabilities and short-term liabilities.

"

so Test Rite will pay for the rebate?

surprisely i only has $20 cendyne rebate outstanding.

I got an email in to an Officemax Rebate CSR that I've had good communication with; I'll let you know what I find out about the Cendyne situation (i.e., if Officemax will pay outstanding rebates if Cendyne doesn't).

Joe

UPDATE: It's been forwarded to OMAX Corporate now as they were apparently unaware of the story. I"ll keep you posted.

emailed someone at omxrebates and was told they contacted the rebate center to expedite that check, so I again stressed that the company is out of business now and there won't be any money to provide parago to cut a check.

Speaking only for myself, I would be 100% satisfied with a omax gift check/card item because sooner or later I need paper, envelopes, stuff like that anyway that I'd otherwise pay for, so it's as good as cash to me.

Please do keep us posted dude.

no F*cking wonder. These companies are getting bolder by the day. What if someone bought something that came with a $300 rebate? Then 2 weeks later the company goes belly-up? This is riduculous. I seriously doubt Test Rite will pay for the rebate. They already have to liquidate Cendyne's asset to get rid of the debt.

What assets? Sounds like the three guys who quit just set up the sales. Test-Rite right did everything else. Cendyne will probably have very little if any tangible assets.

That's what I'm talking about. Since Cendyne's already dead-broke, how is Test-Rite going to pay the rebates?
