So, I ordered a Dell 4600 in July that had a $150 rebate. www.rebatestatus.com enters it as a $100 rebate, ignoring my packing list and invoice. I fax in a copy of my information (5 pages) and then call a week later; the CSR I got was awesome (I have to say that), totally understood what had happened, even seeing that the fax had been received and rejected because I had included my packing slip (isn't that what you're supposed to send in per the rebate form?! LOL) and submitted a request to add another $50 to the rebate.

Well, two days later my $100 check is mailed. I called today and got a CSR who said they had verified with Dell that I was only eligible for a $100 rebate. So, I asked to speak to a supervisor to see if I could escalate the issue. Much to my surprise, I got Matt with the "President's Club" (or something) who handles escalations. He could see everything, even that my packing slip indicated a $150 rebate, and made a new rebate record for $50, with numerous apologies for the mix-up.

Point of the story: Don't take the first-line response that you're SOL.

mine says the same thing ... "new"... the 3 I sent and the 3 "my brother" sent in.

I got BB to PM Sam's on a WD 160 GB BUT they didn't give me a regular receipt, i ended up with a yellow piece of paper that clearly mentioned the princematch.
Questions:
-- Are the online rebate valid if you print them for an item you bought instore?
-- If i send the MIR with the PM receipt, are they going to refuse it?
-- Can i go back to another BB and get them to print out another receipt by just bringing the drive and my CC?

With bestbuy, an online rebate form is NOT acceptable with an in store purchase, nor is an in store rebate form acceptable if you buy it online. Why is beyond me, but it's their rebate policy, a zillion people have bought stuff in store, messed up the rebate form that printed out at the register or lost it or never got it, and figured "no biggy, I'll print off the one online", only to have a rude awakening when their submission is rejected and BB says pretty much "screw you".

This water gets murkier still when you buy the item online but do an instore pickup. Is it an online order, or an in store order? They don't seem to know definitively either, as I've seen people who bought online and did in store pickup rejected for using the online rebate form, and I've seen people rejected for using the in store printed rebate form in that same scenario.

Anyway, your answers are:

#1 - NO. This is BB's policy.
#2 - Probably, but no one can say definitely no, but they often reject rebates if a PM is done, and I'm assuming you're talking about a BB rebate not a mfr one, but you never know.
#3 - Not likely, but they may, guess it would depend on the person, and be nice to them.

FYI, what you're supposed to do is this:

#1 - Buy drive
#2 - Go home and copy receipt
#3 - Go back to store and get PM
#4 - Use the original, non-PM receipt for the rebate

Or so I've read. I've done two PM's in my whole life, both with staples during phone orders. Both times the CSRs refused to pricematch their OWN staple's, nationally distributed in 48 states, sales circular, so I had to get a manager once and a different csr the other time to get staples to pricematch staples. So you see, and I am pretty nice to these folks IMO, I don't want to imagine what'd happen if I tried one of these "hot deal" PMs, I'd probably wind up in a cuban prison judging by my luck.

You need to call them and straighten this out. "NEW" means they haven't received your paperwork., which they should have gotten by now. I have done this several times, and they are very helpful. This has happened a bunch of times for me w/ Fuji. Everything else about Fuji rebate customer service is excellent, but for some reason they keep "losing" my submissions.

You can always try. Some of them will go through, but a lot of the rebate forms say something along the lines of "your rebate rights cannot be assigned or transferred". If there is a statement like this (and a lot of times when there isn't) the rebate will be denied if you have one name on the receipt and another on the rebate.

Still waiting for two $30 Avermedia Compusa rebates that I sent out on 5/25. Called them on 9/6, they said it has been approved waiting for check to be issued. Called on 9/24, they said it had been mailed out on 9/8. Said I have to wait 30 days for the original checks to be cancelled and a new one to be issued. Grr.

Yea, mine was processed on 7/1 and I'm still waiting. I have emailed them and talked to a customer service rep. Both times they gave me some BS about a problem with the rebate. They told me I would be receiving the rebate but could not offer a time frame . This friday will be 30 days since I talked to the CS rep so I am about to pester them some more. I will probably call Staples and complain to them as well. SIGH :disgust:

Just called and found out that Maxtor just started paying the rebates, so you guys rebate checks will show up in any day now.

Here are my delayed checks:

Maxtor 160GB with $80 rebate, received since 7/16/03
Maxtor 100GB+20GB with $50 rebate, received since 7/15/03
Maxtor 100GB+20GB 7200 RPM with $30 rebate, received since 8/9/03

I got the 2nd rebate for the Cendyne 52x CDRW from Omax but I was rejected on the Hi-Val 100-Pack CD-R on account of an invalid UPC.

GAHHHH writing an email to omxrebates@officemax.com . Hope it works. I sent in the original and I have a scanned copy of that 100 pack of I/O magic cdrs (Hi-Val on the rebate form).
