I have not received either of my seagate rebates. I bought the 160 gig from Fry's for $50MIR and sent it in like 12/11. Their website has said it is received and in final processing since 12/25. I bought the 200 GB from CompUsa at $50MIR and $10MIR. The $50 MIR doesnt show up on their normal site, I found by searching the warranty section. The $10 is called invalid because I didn't send in the original UPC. Too bad I followed the directions that explicitly called for a COPY of the UPC. How can I send an original with 2 rebates on the same product? I tried calling their sales support 877 number and got nowhere. Then I tried calling 800-seagate for rebates and never got to speak to anyone. Their hours suck, and everytime I call during business hours they have a staff meeting or something like that. Also once I got confused and accidently called 1-877 seagate. OOPS. Phone Sex. LOL. I sent in an email request about a week ago after hearing 723 times while on hold for 17 minutes about how great their email support is. I have not gotten a response. They were supposed to respond within two days. I will certainly NEVER purchase another Seagate(or any other mfg.) item based on rebate again. I most likely will never purchase another Seagate item. I don't even care about the $$$ its the principle of it all. There's principalities at stake.

I just got a post card from seagate saying I was supposed to send in the original UPC and proof of purchase tab, but the rebate form said to send in copys!!?? Actually I belive it says it twice!!

The $40 one said to send in the originals.

I have the forms in .pdf form if anyone else runs into this and would like them!

Same here. Just got it today. And yes,it's clearly says:"COPY of UPS" on rebate form (Rebate-2).

I think we need a law about retail responsability in case of unpaid rebates.
And why retailer can't give an instant rebate to customer and deal with manufacturer itself.

that would involve caring more about the customer than money. a laughable idea in this age

As far as who is at fault on the Seagate Rebates, I'd say #1 is Parago for DOING the fucknuttery, and #2 would be seagate for hiring them with #3 being Outpost for being a partner in it.

I too have never had rebate problems until this. I've done, I figure, over 50 rebates without significant issues. This is by far my worst rebate experience - 3 Seagate drives and forms sent in August, still no checks, just promises via email and over the phone.

Submit complaints to the FTC and BBB. Enough complaints and something might be done about it at a higher level.

After all the complaining, complaining to Seagate themselves over the phone seems to have worked. My status for the rebate has been changed to include a check number.

I just recieved my $40.00 Maddog rebate that I sent in early september , I did the $15.00 also and got it a month ago. The odd thing is they mailed the $40.00 to my old house( I moved 6 months ago). I was lucky it got forwarded to the new house.

I don't think I mailed them one to the new house and one to the old.:disgust:

"Several said that when manufacturers failed to honor rebates, they had gone back to the stores and the store gave them a refund to cover the rebate promise. Apparently Frys and some other retailers do this as a matter of policy."
I called to "Segate". Always "on hold".Send them a letter with explanation. Next step is FRY's.

I have had very poor results overall with rebates, especially from FRY's. I did find one company that was amazing. I bought a CyberPower UPS from Fry's that featured a rebate. I did not really expect to get it but sent it in anyway. In one week, 7 days exactly I had a check from CyberPower. I was so impressed that I bought another of their UPS and had the same result. Their products, at least the UPS, are excellent. Seems to be a really well run outfit, although not really well known. The rebates seemed to be handled by the company themselves rather than a rebate company.

Got an email yesterday on a rebate I mailed at least a month ago saying that my rebate had been approved and I should be receiving a check in 8 to 12 weeks. That was on a Princeton monitor.

I just wanted to post here that I've been waiting for 2 $50 seagate rebates since the beginning of November 04. It's now January 20, 05. More that the 8 - 10 weeks.

Their web site for tracking rebates is really bad. It didn't show any of mine.

I called their 1800 number and had it check by my phone number they ask for. For both rebates it is saying they are not eligible. So I spoke to a representative and they looked and said that one of them is in fact good. I didn't ask about the other at that time. I'm thinking that maybe their system is just really messed up.

Also, when you call the 1800 number, the first thing you hear is how they are very back-logged and rebates may take longer than expected... I'm thinking maybe that the rebate form is a contract and maybe this is breech of that contract, but I'm not sure how anyone could do anything about it....

the website they had on the forms to track is wrong. if the rebates were mailed to el paso, tx its RebatesHQ. try looking there. the other site i had was seagate rebate page.. i fired off emails to both and finally got one reabte in the mail yesterday and the other shows a check was cut and mailed today.

I got my seagate rebate returned to me with a no forwarding sticker on it although the address was the one on the rebate form. I called them and was told to remail it to the same address.( 200 gig brought in December from outpost with a $40.00 rebate )

I just got a response to my email to seagate .
"Dear Seagate Consumer:

In response to your recent inquiry regarding the status of your rebate, our records indicate a valid rebate is currently being processed. A check will be issued and mailed to you upon completion of processing.

REBATE AMOUNT: $20
Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for processing from the date your rebate was submitted."

Then Why did they send me the postcard saying it wasn't valid??

Status page hasn't changed, still just says "processing"

Last time i'm using a rebate with seagate.

This page now has a serch form allowing you to lookup rebates submitted for any of the companies they fulfill rebates for.

BTW, I mailed 2 rebates on Sept. 27th for 2 Motorola cordless phones to TCA (Niagra Falls). After calling and complaining numerous times during the month of November and December, I finally received the last rebate this week. 18+ weeks - just a tad bit more than their claimed 6-8 weeks.

I got my Soyo rebate from the FAR motherboad (Mwave last May) this week. All it took was countless emails, two BBB complaints, an FTC complaint, and an email to the Attorney General's office.

Never again! Die, Soyo, die!!

I've never been stiffed on a rebate. I'm not afraid to do the rebate thing. I'm careful to follow the instructions and I keep all my rebate info in a dedicated data table. I make copies of forms, UPC's whatever and keep them on HD or print them out. Rebates are money, you just have to wait a while.

I don't understand the politics too well, but I've always thought that one reason they do it is because there's a certain percent of people who will buy and not apply for the rebate or else screw up somehow. That would affect the bottom line of a company. This may be true, but lately I think I overestimated that factor. I think they offer rebates to a large degree to keep merchandise moving off the shelves. Storing manufactured merchandise costs them money. They offer rebates to move product to make way for the future. Like I say, I don't really understand the politics, but I think those two factors are important. I wonder what other people think/know. Rebates are a relatively new phenomenon, I believe. 20 years ago there was little to no rebate action in the economy, IIRC.

I got one for you fellas

I bought the 256MB ddr 2700 pny ram that was on sale on Black Friday at CompUSA. It had two $10 rebates, one needing the original UPC, the other not needing it. I got the check from the one that did require the original upc. However, the second one resulted in a postcard stating that they could not fulfill it since I didn't send the original upc. WTF?

I sent them an email through the www.pnyrebates.com form and I specifically stated that I have the damn rebate form, and it clearly states that a COPY is needed, not the original. Over a week later I got a reply from staples.rebates@parago.com?!!!! wtf? they said I'm sorry, but you didn't submit the original upc that's why you were denied, please mail us the original upc. WTF?!!

did this happen to anyone else?
