1) Read rebate requirements before you buy the product or as soon as you buy the product to be sure you meet the eligibility requirements and you know the mail-in dates.
2) If you are buying a product and the rebate is online, download and/or print the rebate immediately. Some online sites will remove rebates as soon as the sale/promotion is over.
3) ALWAYS make good copies of everything you send in for a rebate.
4) Complete all information requested on rebate form in a legible hand writing. You may want to use all caps.
5) Provide all documents requested on the rebate form.
6) Put your rebate documentation and copies in a safe place and follow up on the dates they are due.
7) Call about your rebate if you do not receive it when it is due.

Since this thread has been cleaned up, I thought I would repost the link to my rebate tracking program. It helps you keep track of rebates by store including where you got them and when you sent them. I try to make updates often, but feedback from you all will help me know what to fix/add first. You need the .NET framework installed to use it.

btw it's free of course, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this here; I'm just trying to help

Does anyone know the telephone number in the US for the corporate office, and/or the Khypermedia US address?

I bought a Khypermedia 52X CDRW Drive at Office Max on October 3, and still have not received the $11 rebate. I got no satisfaction from the Khypermedia rebate rep (888-213-9918), who says essentially that I have been approved and my check will be coming on some as yet unspecified day. The Khypermedia Customer Service voicemail mailbox((800) 698-5798) is full, so it won't even take a message. The rebate contract says that I should have received my rebate within 8 weeks, which time has long since passed. Despite the assurances of the customer rep, my rebate does not show up at trackmyrebate.com/Khypermedia.

I am worried because there is a rule that suggests that, six months after the closing date of the promotion, the rebate sponsor no longer has to honor the rebate unless the customer has evidence of a correspondence with the sponsor in the interim.

I would like the corporate number in order to get a firm response with a firm date. Failing that, I wouldl like to report Khypermedia to all the usual authorities.

I post here rarely except to sell or buy, so my apologies if I am posting incorrectly this time. (My thread on this subject was locked, I guess because it was separate from this thread. My apologies, moderator, if this was the case.)

What I would do is take all your copies of the rebate forms/receipts, that you sent in and bring them down to the Office Max where you purchased the items and talk to the manager. Explain your story to him/her. I have heard that people who did this method can walk out of OM with their rebate in hand.

I know they reside in Livermore or Pleasanton CA, because I remember sending in a rebate to one of those two cities quite a while back. Call information with the 925 araea code and see if they might give you an address.

It's been said before, but worth a reminder. The Seagate Rebates for hard drives purchased from Fry's/Outpost.com need to be watched closely. I have submitted three of these rebates (160G, 200G &amp; 120G). The 160G rebate arrived within 5 weeks of submittal. The 200G is now pushing 12 weeks &amp; still shows as "valid" etc. The 120G drive went from "valid" to "invalidated by Seagate" some time in the last few weeks. I called on the 120G rebate yesterday and the CSR said she had escalated the rebate and I should received the $50 check in the next 7-10 days. Going to keep close tabs on these rebates.

Update: It gets better. I called on my 200G rebate that still shows valid and in-process. The rebate house had marked it as not valid. The CSR asked for my serial numbers (which I have since I copy EVERYTHING) and mumbles about the number not starting with a "3". This 200G is the retail kit purchased from Outpost.com and meets all the stated criteria for the advertised $50 rebate. Now this one is also "escalated for further investigation". I'm finding it difficult to keep calm while the rebate house attempts to steal my rebate. FTC and BBB will be next step. Sigh.

Update: It gets better. I called on my 200G rebate that still shows valid and in-process. The rebate house had marked it as not valid. The CSR asked for my serial numbers (which I have since I copy EVERYTHING) and mumbles about the number not starting with a "3". This 200G is the retail kit purchased from Outpost.com and meets all the stated criteria for the advertised $50 rebate. Now this one is also "escalated for further investigation". I'm finding it difficult to keep calm while the rebate house attempts to steal my rebate. FTC and BBB will be next step. Sigh.



I finally got my $50 rebate from Outpost for a 160 gig drive. It showed in it's "final stages" crap for about a month and a half. I wrote an aggressive, but courteous, email to them, and I got it two weeks later. Then a week after that, they emailed me back saying I should recieve it shortly.

Bastages, I hate them.

On the other hand, I recieved my Staples EasyRebate pretty easily in a few weeks.

For those sending in rebates for Maddog DVD-RW drives (rebadged NECs), check your status!
Did 3 drives for 3 x $40 = $120 worth of rebates, back 3-4 months ago... and all 3 are overdued! Called them and CSR apologized for delay, didn't know what happened, will "escalate" process and check supposed to be issued within 10-15 business days (that was a week before Christmas...) grrr! scums!

If you click on the previous rebate thread, on the third page I disscussed my problems with Mad Dog so I won't get into it here. I sent my rebate for a 15.00 5.1 sound card and a 40.00 reabte DVDRW drive on
7-13-04. I received the 40.00 around 12-10-05 and the 15.00 around 12-22-04. Five months for both.

I am also having trouble with my seagate rebates, first a few weeks ago one of my rebates went to invalid serial number status, which we all know is impossible but only a ploy for people to lose there rebates that don't keep track of them, so I called and they said they fixed it, last week I finally got 1 rebate, it was at 12 weeks, then today, I get a card saying my other rebate has an invalid serial number, hmm, it was the one they printed on the hard drive box, and it was included to them so theres no way I could have copied it wrong, so I call and they supposedly fixed it again,, this is getting old not to mention wasting a lot of time for them and me.

Ah, nearly the same thing is happening to me, it seems. I did the rebate thing in August on a Barracuda 120, 160 and 200 GB HD. The 120 and 200 are approved but I get a card yesterday saying my submitted SN for the 160 GB drive was invalid. I go "bogus!" Today, I look up my SN (boy, I DO keep very good records when I submit rebates, and besides, I have the goddamn HD and can, if necessary, rip it out of my box and get the number off it again), and call them at the 800 number on the card I just got. After the customary queue wait I talk to a woman who verifies me and I tell her my SN and ask if it's the same one submitted and she says it is. I tell her that Seagate's own warranty verification page:

shows the drive as:

Expiration 13-AUG-2009

She says they are evidently in error and she will submit this information to the proper people and that I should call the same 800 number after 10 business days and find out the status of things. I'm highly confident they will approve. Yes, it's a waste of everybody's time and I'm personally surprised that a company of Seagate's stature would blow it so badly. It's very bad PR to make people go through hoops when THEY are the ones goofing up.

In terms of which rebates need to be watched closely: I watch them ALL! I keep a record in a database dedicated to rebates for each rebate application submitted. I don't lose track. I've never been screwed out of ANY rebates (the table mentioned has 30 records), but Intuit got me in the fine print on one for Turbo Tax. It said you had to submit your request within 30 days of purchase when they knew goddamn well that most people put off doing their taxes, if not until the last minute at least to the last 6 weeks. Bastids!

I also just recieved a postcard saying there is an invalid serial number on my submission for a 200gb ata drive bought in september. I called a week agocomplaining about how long it was taking and the guy said eveything seemed ok and would put an escalation on my submission, then I get this card. I will be calling monday morning and finding out what is going on. After hearing its not only me with this problem I am serisouly considering not purchasing anymore seagate products at all. I'm glad I just bought a Raptor

The seagate rebate number I called was 1-800-753-9823 I just called and he said that he was "sorry" that I recieved the postcard but my rebate is valid and in the final stages of processing. I told him I will call back in 2 weeks if I havent recieved it yet.

Paragon/Rebateshq is screwing up my rebates as well. Status says the original UPC wasn't included in my submission, as well as my sisters for the same rebate. And we both sent them in together and verified each envelopes' contents together. :|

Just got my Bestbuy/Sony Cybershot rebate (less than 6 weeks). Believe it or not, I just got a email from TCA that my TCA/Compusa/Adaptec rebate was mailed. If it gets here in next two weeks, it'll be under the 8-10week time limit for the rebate. This could be a record.

Gibson486 I don't have any staples easy rebates from BF, but I know for sure they are waiting for the return period to expire to prevent getting rebates on returned items.
The current return policy as on the Staples web site says:

Want to share unexpected pleasant surprise with rebates. Probably the best I've ever seen in my life (and I do have a lot of rebates, about $575 pending right now).
In the past I've never dealt with Symantec for rebates. On this BF I got NAV and the BB bundle. I submitted 6 rebates totally, sent by mail 2 days after BF (Nov 28th). 4 of them I presubmitted on the web (which seems to help speeding up the process).
The 1st 2 checks arrived on Dec 13th, in slightly more than 2 weeks. The last check arrived on Dec 22nd in less than 4 weeks.

I have a problem with both the BF Seagate 120GB rebate. Both the $20 and $40 rebates says I need a original UPC and I didn't send one in. I sent the original with the $40 one and it stills says missing. How can I send in the original UPC to both when there is only one on the box.

I have a question about a best buy rebate. It was for the MAxtor 250 gig Hard drive. The rebate form that printed off in-store didn't say to send in the UPC or a copy of it. However the online rebate center form does. But the online center rebate form makes you send it to a slighty different place also.

Should I go ahead and send in a copy of the UPC or will it get disqualified because it didn't say to?
