Many if not most of you know about the Microsoft Settlement thing going on. If you bought any of many Microsoft softwares over a period of some years you are presumably eligible (or were) to apply for a reimbursement. The article I read in the S.F. Chronicle last December said about 10% of the people qualifying had applied and that you had to apply by Jan. 8, 2005. It's software purchases from 1995 to 2001 of qualifying products. I filled out the form indicating that I'd bought Windows 2000 in 2001 and sent it in on 12/29/2004, and have gotten no word or the $16 I'm supposed to get. Does anyone know what's going on with that?

Each state is different. I sent my settlement in 55 weeks ago. According to the website, MS will be mailing out the checks in August, but that's for the state of Minnesota.
Several appeals have been filed in California
I suspect you will have to wait at least 6 more months

I have the rebate blues...

My Compusa Logitech MX510 $15 rebate with Expressgroup is overdue. Mailed it on 5/22. Been 3 months. They keep delaying it.

My two Outpost WD $30 HD rebates are late. Mailed them on 5/23. Took them 8 weeks just to post them in their data base and say it will take another 8 weeks to process. Mmmm, 4 months...

CPG rejected my Crucial Gizmo $15 rebate saying I did not send a receipt. I sent them the invoice that came with the product. I can't reach a live body by phone and they say on the website that they will send my a post card to tell me what to do. That was 4 weeks ago.

I hate rebates again. :| Such a pain getting them. :| No more rebates for me. :|

Just wanted to add that I have had excellent results with 3 linksys rebates. Arrived on time and in one case I forgot to send the UPC code and after I sent it in, they still gave me the rebate! That's almost unheard of in rebate-land.

Right now, I'm waiting for a $40 rebate from Creative and $50 from Fuji Plus (Min Maw). I'm a little worried about the latter.

Anyone received rebates for I-Rocks IR7300 Silver Optical Mouse and Viking 256MB CompactFlash purchased from eCost in mid-April?

My status:
I-Rocks IR7300 Silver Optical Mouse: rejected for not sending the original invoice which is not true
They didn't even inform me of the rejection. I logged on pcusacorp.com to find out my rejection after waiting more than 18 months. I emailed them with an attachment of scanned UPC, invoice but they've not responded to my email.

Viking 256MB CompactFlash: checked at rebatestatus.com and it does even show that I've submitted the rebate. I've emailed them scanned images of UPC and invoice.

Anyone else got the same problem?

TIA,

Anybody received their rebate for the Visiontek X850 XT PE?

I can't find the rebate form on the web anymore and the site they say to go to www.rebatesHQ.com shows that I don't have any pending? Sent it in plenty of time. I purchased the card from Dell around the beginning of August. Rebate was for $75

edit:

I've also checked Dell's rebate tracking which shows nothing, but I'm pretty sure the rebate was through Visiontek themselves.

Anyone having trouble with the Pepsi $10 rebate that happened at the beginning of July 2005?

My note to myself says:

Sent in coupon + 4 original UPC's + original receipt with items and prices checked (Albertson's, purchased 7/7/05), sent in 7/11/2005.

I got a letter from them with an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper labeled "Resubmission Information" and it's unclear what I should do. It indicates this (among other things):

Product Size: UNKNOWN

Purchase Price: 0.00

It does that for each of the 4 UPC's I submitted. The original receipt I sent them includes that information. There's no contact info included in the letter. WTF?

Just the info I needed. I was at a loss. Thanks! I was going to truck on down to the supermarket where I bought the four 12 packs. The letter they sent me gave not a clue what I could do or who I could contact. I've participated in many many rebates, but this Pepsi one so far comes off the shadiest ever.

What counts as the "invoice" for rebates from outpost.com? I have the "packing list" that came in the box, and on the website I can access my "order status." Is the order status screen considered the invoice? I have to send this rebate in by tomorrow...someone please help me out and let me know

I have always sent a copy of the Outpost packing slip and never had any problems. However, it would not hurt to send a copy of both (assuming a copy is ok and they don't request the original). I was burned recently on a Crucial rebate from buy.com when I sent a copy of the buy.com packing slip. They rejected my rebate and I had to resend with a copy of the online invoice that I printed out at the end of the order.

So here is the deal:
I submitted an "order" for the Staples/Comcast deal thru Staples.com in early October and then got my TV installed a few days ago, then activated my Internet and they told me they had me "on a service plan" already when I called 1-800-Comcast to confirm my internet would work.

So does Staples automatically pass on my subscription/order to Comcast to bill me @ 19.99 a month?
How do I submit the rebate for $100+ without getting a bill yet or any proof of purchase?

Thank you very much for your help, I've been struggling to figure this one out in my limited free time.

I did the staples/comcast deal a year ago. It was 130 rebate from Staples and Comcast at 19.99/mo. If my memory serves me correctly, there was a Staples rebate form that you can access and print out at any time from the order number. The rebate form was within the Staples/Comcast special promotion. I think the rebate form just needs the first bill that comcast sends you. Staples gives you the general legalese that you need to keep Comcast for the minimum of 180 days or they will collect that rebate. This is because the rebate comes within 2 months after filing it with Staples and not at the end of 180 days.
I do remember that I had to call Staples after 4-6 weeks because I did not see my rebate in their system. But since I had all the necessary copies and information, the rebate CSR just took my info without having to fax anything and she approved my rebate right over the phone. The rebate came shortly after.

Edit:
To answer to your two questions:
Comcast automatically adjusts your bill to the 19.99 price.
Secondly, I think you need to send the first bill or a copy of it with the rebate. The rebate form gives you plenty of time to send it in if I remember correctly. I haven't seen this promotion so I don't know if it's the same, but that is how I received my rebate last year from the similar deal.

I just received a post card from Mushkin.
Dear Consumer:
Thank you for participating in this promotion. Unfortunately, we could not honor your request beacause of the following reason:

We did not receive a sales receipt with your request.
Anyone who has ever done business with Fry's knows that Fry's prints out a single piece of paper that is a combined sales receipt and rebate form. This is done directly at the register, and you receive one piece of paper for each item you purchased which has a rebate associated with it. If they received my rebate form (which they must have, or else how could they have responded at all?), then they had to have received the combination sales receipt/rebate form.

They could have claimed not to have received the UPC, but they cannot legitimately claim to have not received the sales receipt. This is pure ripoff. Beware of Mushkin.

ON EDIT: I have had the speakerphone on hold waiting for a customer representative for around 40 minutes. BEWARE OF MUSHKIN.

I sent in for a couple of Mushkin rebates in the past, and I did send in the sales receipt along with the rebate receipt because it was worded like they would give you the rebate unlessyou did this. It was the only item I had on the receipt so I had no prolem sending the original. But you are right, the rebate receipt should work regardless. It's the agreement Fry's should have with Mushkin if they are promoting their rebates. What I would do, (and I have done this twice), is go to Fry's and talk to Customer Service and there is a person who handles rebates. Give this person all the info, bring your copies you hopefully made and they will call Mushkin on your behalf and take care of it. In the event the rebate is not honored by Mushkin, Fry's will honor it.

Just got a form letter from Verbatim regarding my $25 dollar rebate
for the newegg.com deal I got 3 weeks ago for a box of 8X 100 dvd+r for $52.
It basically said you need to submit the UPC barcode cutout.
Only problem is, I already did when I mailed in my rebate form!
Well, don't what I could do now. Emailed them and no answer.

This is the second time I got screwed out of a rebate saying you didn't
enclose the UPC cutout. No more rebate
shopping fom me. For those getting the current deal for the Verbatim
8x pack of 100 dvd+rs, don't even bother!
