Here's a sort of a "tip" I guess, it (unfortunately I guess) works for me. It's pretty pathetic when one has to "
blow a gasket and freak out" in order to get
what's DUE to them. This involves
www.rebatestatus.com (inquiry@cs.rebatestatus.com &
customer.service@cs.rebatestatus.com) and the Altec GT5051 5.1 speakers from Buy.com.
After one month their site still said it "had no record of your submission". I emailed them, and was told I had to mail it in AGAIN or fax it. I told them I'm not about to toss another stamp, and I didn't have a way to send faxes, so I emailed the info to them.....
SIX TIMES. EACH TIME, even after sending them the info again
EACH TIME,
I received the exact same reply verbatim:
"
We have been unable to locate your rebate submission in our system. If you have retained copies of your rebate submission form, sales receipt and proof of purchase or UPC, please fax or mail these documents to:..."
They had apparently "tagged" my mail address to send out that identical reply for each email I sent, regardless of the content of the email, because I also removed that tracking # ("
Please do not remove your unique tracking number! xxxxxxx")!!
So I started a new email thread all over again,
containing the receipt, form, UPC, etc., AGAIN, this time with a different email address, and with details on what has been transpiring so for with the BS. First reply was them telling me to CALL them. I said "why the hell do I have to call??". They
then replied telling me to call
Buy.com!! My response was "
What does Buy.com have to do with this?? It is not they that's handling the rebate, it's YOU, rebatestatus.com!! Why all the BS and run-around??" Believe it or not, they actually replied with:
"
Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the status of your rebate. In order to do a thorough search and locate the correct submission record, more information is needed. Please provide us with the following information:..."
.....of which "following information" is what I had sent them now EIGHT times previously! This is after about 10 emails now. So, I replied with this:
"
I HAVE HAD IT!!!!! YOU'VE ALREADY GOT THAT CRAP!!!!!!
I'VE SENT IT TO YOU MORE THAN 8 F**KING TIMES!!!! IT WAS
ALSO SENT IN THE FIRST EMAIL I SENT TO YOU *THIS* GO 'ROUND!!!!
ARE YOU PEOPLE BRAIN DEAD??????? YOU JERKS PULL THIS
BULLSH!T ON PURPOSE TO TRY AND GET PEOPLE TO FORGET
ABOUT THEIR REBATES!!!!!! WELL, IT "AIN'T GONNA WORK" WITH
ME!!!! I'LL BE SURE YOU'RE INVESTIGATED BY THE FTC, BUY.com,
AND THE BBB KNOWS ABOUT THIS ANENCEPHALIC ATTEMPT AT
TRYING TO "INTIMIDATE REBATE VICTIMS", AND I'LL ALSO JUST
CONTACT MY CC COMPANY FOR A CHARGE BACK DUE TO REBATE
FRAUD, WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE FOR THE FULL AMOUNT!!!!"
This was at about
5:30AM CST. Seconds later, that's right, SECONDS LATER, I received this from them:
"
Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the status of your rebate. Our records indicate a valid rebate is currently being processed. A check will be issued and mailed to you upon completion of processing.
REBATE AMOUNT:$40.00
Your rebate was entered successfully on 12/11/2005. Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for processing from this date."
LOL. :disgust: Pretty amazing isn't it, [sarc]"how they somehow miraculously find the info needed" and are able to "read and comprehend emails"[/sarc] after receiving an email like that. Like I said, it's pretty pathetic when one has to blow a gasket in order to get something done with these rebate jerks. They're pretty much all like this. I have a similar issue brewing now with CompUSA (their new online rebate submission area), claiming that
none of their own SKU #'s are valid! Time to blow another gasket.
