This legislation will not eliminate rebates in CA. This is a rebate advertising law. Connecticutt has an identical law.

"Connecticut has a Rebate Advertising Law that requires retailers who advertise the net (after rebate) price of an item to pay the consumer the amount of that rebate when he or she buys the item. If the retailer doesn?t wish to do this, it cannot advertise the ?after-rebate price? as the final price to be paid by the consumer. Thus, there should be no confusion about the amount the customer must pay at the cash register."

I just got my $50 rebate check for the Patriot 2x1GB DDR2 deal about 8 weeks ago.

Received $100 rebate for HannsG HC-194D 19" LCD Monitor purchased from PC Connection on 09-16-06.

Attached to the rebate check was a letter from PC Connection which read a bit like "blah blah blah original rebater Wintergreen had insufficient funds so we covered this rebate". I am impressed that PC Connection came through paying on this without my contacting them at all.

Now the funny part, I had thought I already received the $100 rebate, but this was around December last year and many of you will remember the mad frenzy to buy stuff when Google had their checkout deals, rebates were flying left and right around here during that period so I wasn't keeping track as well as I should beyond that I did get a $100 rebate for *something* and had assumed it was for the monitor. Either I had to wait an extra 12 months for a rebate or I ended up getting the monitor for free.

I have a question. Has anyone ever had any trouble trying to get 2 rebates for the same item from 2 different companies?

For example: I want to get 2GB of Patriot ram from Newegg and I want 2GB of the same exact Patriot ram from Fry's. Both offer the same rebate dollar amount, but different promotion numbers.

I expect to be no problem, but the fine print might be intrepreted to give me trouble.

Yes I've received rebates from a few products when it was a different promo number but never tried with Patriot Ram (nor do I know who is fulfilling that rebate which can be gleaned from the address it's being sent to in most cases). If the two promos have concurrent dates and are mailed to the same exact address it can be a problem, but different promo number suggests it wouldn't be.

You might edit your post including links to the product or terms if you feel that will matter.

I have done it with Crucial Ballistix ram. I bought 2GB from Fry's and 2GB from Buy.com in the same week, but different promo/offer numbers for the rebates. The rebates were merchant specific. I used the same name and mailing address and received both rebates. As mindless1 pointed out, depending on what rebate house is handling the rebate, they may reject one of the rebates based on the "1 per household" or "can not be combined with any other offer" rules. Read the fine print of the rebate form carefully.

Has anyone actually received a rebate from XG? I have one that is going on a year, and other than requests to wait "2 more weeks due to larger than expected participation," I can't get anything out of them.

They've had a number of promotions, almost exclusively at Buy.com.

I expect I'm not the only one, and am seriously contemplating initiating a class-action suit against them.

Abit's Rebate Tracking does not seem to be working. I sent in a $20. rebate submission for a I-35E MB 6 weeks ago and after entering the info on their site exactly as I filled out the rebate I get:
"No status results were found matching your search criteria. Either we did not receive your rebate/promotion or it is in the process of being entered in our systems. Please check back periodically."

I called them at (510) 623-0500 (toll call) and left a message. Three hours later they called me back and told me they had received it and it was processing. I suggest anyone else having problems tracking their Abit rebates to call them.

Been waiting on mine for way over the allotted time.
I finally called them once in Oct.(bought in June, X Fi fatality extreme gamer from NE $50.rebate) They(C.L) said they had sent Aug.17th.I never received it.and records indicated the check was never cashed,so they re-issued the check,(another lie?)The nice helpful lady I talked to yesterday said my email address was wrong and corrected it,but still no email acknowledgement at all. today called the Stillwater OK.office again today this time (another more experienced lady hmm.) I was told it would take another 6 weeks,at which point I told this lady I will believe it when I see it.
I guess I am SOL huh?

It appears they are handling their own rebates. Their US technical support center is in Stillwater, OK. I guess the tech support people open rebates in between customer support calls... You may want to consider filing a report with the OK state attorney general and the BBB. Provide them with all of the details and time frames. Let Creative know you filed a report. Reporting these companies to the SAG usually wakes them up and gets action.

I don't know if they are using a different rebate house or anything, but I have gotten all my I/O Magic rebates. I assume you have contacted them. Have you tried talking to the company you purchased from as well?

I will persue this issue further and hopefully result in getting a rebate check.

(UPDATE )Just got off the telephone with Creative Labs ,They sent me a check on Nov.30th!woo...=too early for wooting yet,but promising!
No email notification still though

I bought the evga geforce fx5200.. it was FAR from fry's.com. Just got an email with rebate tracking #. I checked the status and it says INVALID.

Reason it says...

Invalid Purchase Location
128-A8-N303-L2 Missing Serial #
128-A8-N303-L2 Missing UPC

WTF is up with that? fry's.com is an invalid location? I included the upc, this is bs.

I've done one or two with BFG and with a couple with 3DFuzion, which is a part of BFG. All came in the time frame they stated without a phone call. Actually have a 3DFuzion rebate getting ready to ship in a week or two. Rebates are handled by rebatestatus.com and while it does take a month or so to get it in the system, there are periodic updates to the mailing date, if you check your rebate status online. They are a decent rebate house. They also handle Antec's rebates.

Can anyone help me with a contact number for my fry's/ocz rebate?
I snet for a 40$ rebate on a OCZ memory stick from Fry's. The purchase date was valid for 11/23/07 only and that is the date I bought it online from frys.com The shipping date was 11/24 and that is the only reason I can think of for the denial. I have a claim # but no one to contact.

The submission was to
OCZ Technology Rebate.

The email notification I got was from www.rebate-zone.com/OCZTechnology.

I am not clear if this rebate if from OCZ directly, or if I need to be contacting a third party rebate company.
