Hello, uh, rebate as hosted on compusa.com?!?!? (PDF).

I frequently have to be a bit of a squeaky wheel when it comes to Logitech rebates. Call them. Thay will check your rebate and they should straighten it out. Ask them how long it will take to show as updated on their website. Keep checking on the status of your rebate online and call again if it doeasn't get updated in a reasonable amount of time. Good luck!

I don't think paying for the "no wait" rebate is worth it at all. They charge 10%, which works out to more than 60% APR, and many times it's not necessary anyway. How fast the rebate is paid is up to whoever is actually funding it. The last rebates I submitted to OnRebate were entered on 11/22, received on 11/29 and paid into my Paypal account on 12/9 -- without paying anything extra.

OnRebate is very fussy about following directions but once your claim is filed, payment is a breeze compared to other rebate processing outfits. I just wish they would all offer the PayPal option. The others are counting on a certain percentage of checks never being cashed.

This is for all the people that are having trouble collecting the 100.00 rebate from OD on the Hann 19" monitor from the end of August. Like others here and at FW (very large thread on this), I had to resubmit my rebates because it wasn't showing up in the system on Nov 1st. I was assured my rebate would be paid soon after resubmission by fax. I called again last week (12-14) to check on why my rebate hasn't been paid but to no avail. I was told to wait some more.

I then was talking with a Hann CSR and he said that Hann isn't responsible for the rebate and I told him I called OD and they said the same thing. How can both sides have nothing to do with the rebate?

He PM'd me the following and gave me an email address to contact:
"If you purchased the unit from Office Depot, that rebate is being offered by their distributor Wintergreen Systems. You can contact Kathy Plake there at kathyplake@wintergreensys.com for any problems with your rebate.

If you purchased the unit from PCConnection you will have to contact them as they are the sponsors of the rebates on their site."

He went on in another PM to say:
"There are more than 2 sides to a lot of retail transactions. Wintergreen Systems is a large consumer electronics distributor who purchased our monitors from us, and sold them to Office Depot. They offered a rebate to make the deal attractive to Office Depot. That is why some of your rebate correspondence is coming from a Wintergreen mail account and why the correct person to contact works there. I am sure Kathy will be able to help you."

I emailed Kathy Plake on Saturday (12-16) and I received this email Monday (12-18).

"I will contact someone there on your behalf and see if your check can be sent tomorrow. If it?s too late to get into the check batch for tomorrow it will go out next Tuesday as that is the mailing day for checks."

I checked this morning at rebateshq.com and my check has a number and it has been mailed, so this works if you bought your Hann at OD and are using rebateshq.com.

The claim, though can be twice as much work, because some rebates require registering online as well as mailing in the form and UPC. And after all that, in my experience, they still FAILED TO PAY AS AGREED then they made up a series of contradictory lies to try to cheat me.

Certainly, OnRebate.com pays many rebates without hassle. After all, the money isn't coming out of their pocket. They're just handling the rebate for the companies that are offering the rebates. What makes OnRebate.com a pack of unscrupulous, lying scam artists is their willingness to do the dirty work for lowlife retailers like, in my case, Frys/Outpost. So, I find that payment is not a "breeze", but the dead calm of the Horse Latitudes.

Thanks for the advice allisolm. Had a little free time today and did just that, and the results seem better. The rep said they resubmitted the claim with a comment about the PDF (<--taken w/grain of salt) and that the website will take 5 days to update with the status.

My experience has been that dealing with Fry's is always a hassle -- no matter what the issue. When it comes to rebates, they change the rules without notice and pay at the last minute. One time they didn't pay until I copied them on a letter I was sending to the FTC. I always think twice before I do business with Fry's; sometimes I just decide that it's not worth the hassle.

I have submitted $30 Logitech rebate for purchase of Mice through buy.com, and it has just shown up after 8 weeks, but I was impressed that I got e-mail confirmation from Logitech, and I was able to keep track of my rebate through their web site.

So far, I have about 6 rebates in the works, and three of them are showing up in tracking web sites.

I am worried about $500 rebate from Office Depot for Haier Plasma TV BF deal. I have submitted through certified mail, and hoping that it shows up in Office Depot's rebate tracking site.

I was wondering if some of the experts here could answer a few questions for me...

I purchased the Xbox 360 Premium system from Micro Center about 10 days ago. I mailed the rebate in Monday to their "Young America, MN" address, which, ironically is only a few miles from where I live. So, pretty much sure they would have received it Tuesday. However, when I track the rebate on their website (as of today, 4-5 days later) I am unable to find that they received it. Is there a lag time from when I send this out to when they actually receive it? I know I won't actually get the check for quite a while, but I am concerned with the typical BS response of "We never received it"... But the rebate itself says it has to be post marked from 15 days of the invoice, meaning, the 28th would be the latest I could resend the information via a copy of it. Now, if it doesn't show up on their rebate tracking site, then should I call them to find out if they received it before the 28th? I hope this makes sense, I just don't trust companies with mail in rebates. I don't want to get a call or email that says "The UPC was missing" on the 29th, and then have no way for me to resend the information due to their posted marked within 15 days guideline.

Thanks to anyone who can help answer... Still learing about these rebates...

I would not worry since Young America is a reputable rebate house. They are just not as fast as they used to be. Since you have copies of everything, you should be fine if they ever ask you for resubmission. Typically, the time rebates are entered on the websites after they receive them are different for rebate houses. Some can be just a couple weeks after receipt or several weeks or more. My recent experiences with Young America are two rebates from Office Depot purchases. They took 6 weeks before they were entered on the website, although my particular rebate stated that the rebate would be paid in 60-90 days. My website confirmation said they received it after 10 days, they just didn't enter it on their website for 6 weeks.

If your rebate states it is to be paid in less time, say 4-6 weeks, I would expect your rebate to be entered in something less than that. If you sent your rebate only 4-5 days ago, it will not show up that quickly. In fact it probably won't show up with this "15 day guideline" you referenced.

It sounds like you did everything right, so just wait. How long did they say for you to expect your rebate? Last year I did two Microcenter rebates and if I remember correctly, they might have also gone through Young America. They also came in the time that was specified because I do remember not having to call and nag them.

Buy.com sends me emails regularly plugging offers and I got one on 12/21/2006 that attracted my attention and I started a thread in this forum:

2 GB USB 2.0 Flash drive $7 after rebates and Google CO

After several people posted I decided to go for the deal, which involved two rebates. So, I ordered on the first day the deal was offered, 12/21/2006. The PDF rebate forms state that you have to mail in your applications for the rebates within 30 days of your order, so for me the deadline is January 20, 2006.

Today makes 2 weeks since the order date and it's not shipped. I contacted Buy.com and they said "We apologize that the delivery of your order is taking longer than expected. Due to a setback from the manufacturer, item #202426782 on your order is temporarily sold out."

I have the option to cancel, but I like the deal so long as I get my rebates. Can Buy.com and/or the manufacturer be reasonably expected to extend the rebate deadlines in view of the inexplicable and uncalled for delay in shipping? After all, I ordered on the first day and if it was sold out I should have been so informed. So far, my inquiries about these issues have only gotten me boilerplate back about the "setback." On top of that, since I ordered through Google Checkout, my credit card has already been charged. Any concepts concerning what I should or might do in that circumstance? Thanks!

Ha! Just got an email from Buy.com that my order is on its way. Maybe the 4 or 5 emails/online contacts I sent them in the last 24 hours did the trick. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"

Has anyone had any trouble with rebatestatus.com. I purchased a video card from Buy.com that had a $25 rebate and what they called a $15 bonus. I sent them both in and the $25 had the original S/N label and the $15 had the copy. The $25 went through without any trouble but when I went to their web site they said I didn't send in a copy of the S/N for the $15 bonus. They had they would send me a card telling me what to do. I have not received the card as of today. I E-mailed them over a week ago to try and find out what was wrong as I know I sent the label in but seeing as I couldn't prove it I resubmitted the rebate. So far I have sent 5 E-mails without a response and a couple of days after I sent the resubmit the rebat was changed to processing but then later they
put back the no S/N label was sent. I then E-mailed again without any response. I'm ready to write Buy.com and XFX to complain..

Did you keep copies of all your paperwork? If so, just use the link at the web site to generate an e-mail message and attach a .JPG or .PDF of the copied S/N to your message.

When was the status changed to rejected? What is/was the deadline to submit the rebate? It's usually overkill to appeal to the manufacturer or vendor until you are approaching the absolute cut off date.

1) It always takes a couple of days for the processors to return messages. Sending a lot of messages in a short period of time just creates confusion.
2) Did you send it by e-mail or use the web form? You get better response if you use their web form.

Well the rebate was sent on 12/08 along with another one to the same place. The other one seems okay and is being processed. The funny part of this rebate is they want a S/N label instead of a UPC. There was only one label on the box and it has a really small
S/N in the middle of the label. I had a hard time finding it. The same label was sent for the other rebate and was okay. I then thought it had to be that I didn't send the copy of the label so when I saw the message by the rebate about no label I sent another one. I was going to wait for the letter they said they will send but it's been 13 days since I sent the second label in and still haven't received the letter. Somewhere in between I sent in an E-mail with a copy of the S/N label. This has become more then just a matter of a $15 rebate because they are ignoring everything I do.I found another web site that looks like the first one and has all the same forms so I filled one of them out and sent it in. The web site uses forms to contact them and they say if you have any questions just fill the form and ask. I'm on my 7th request for an answer.I really don't know when they posted the message on the board but it's been two weeks that I've been sending them
messages and haven't heard answer one. Since I sent it on Dec. 8 it couldn't have been on the merssage board for very long. I just found a telephone number on a copy of the rebate form I have . Tomorrow they will get a call and then if I am not satisfied I'll contact the others..

Well, after a lenghty time with no problems - I am chasing two rebates.

$30 from myrebates411.com on newegg deal for Sapphire X850xt from Aug 2006 timeframe. It is more than the "16 weeks" specified to wait from the Aug 27 submittal. This was also the most complicated rebate I've ever done where (1) you had to register online, (2) copy data from an e-mail after registration to the rebate form including some loooong codes, (3) put the company, item number, promo code and transaction id on the outside of the envelope and (4) oh yea, mail it all in. When I check the status it says, "Mail received - In process". I just submitted an inquiry so we'll see where this one goes.

$50 from symantec (one of two rebates for a FAR deal). The first rebate for $30 was paid promptly, when I checked on the $50 one, there was no record. Both were mailed on the same day. Symantec told me to resubmit via fax & I did within a hour on Dec 12th. Still no record on web site so I'll be calling again. Disappointing as symantec has been one of the best rebates in the past for me.

Just a heads up in case this happens to you. I purchased 2 pkgs CF bulbs from Lowe's Lowes Compact Fluorescent Bulbs Free AR. Rebate limit 2. Got a check for just one pkg. Just called and they validated the second one and will send a check. If you participated in this, you might want to make sure you get the full amount. 1-877-204-1223 is their rebate #.

It would be very useful to me if you included the name of the companies handling and offering the rebate, so I had can add them to my list of disreputable rebators. While I agree it is a good idea to pursue these rebates, the next step is to just say, "No!" to further rebate offers from the perpetrators.

Well then, I guess you'll have to stop doing business with Lowe's.
