Denied Visioneer Rebate

Has anyone had a probem with getting a visioneer rebate? My parents got a pair of viewsonic flatscreens at X-mas for their business. Each had a rebate, $100 each I think. The moniters were each in an unopened box but both rebates were denied because according to Viewsonic the serial numbers had already been claimed! Whats Going on?

I must say that I am highly skeptical about your statement unless you have some inside track and funding source that no one else knows about. You mailed your New Rochelle processed CompUSA Handspring/Glenayre rebate on 12/30 and received it three weeks later on 1/28? That would be a world record for New Rochelle by anyone experience with them and is against all their established processing guidelines. New Rochelle's SOP for all processed rebates is to prorate the estimated rebate check to 8-10 weeks depending on what is stated with the offer from they time that they process your rebate request. IMO, it is highly unlikely that New Rochelle would have even acknowledged receipt of your rebate request yet as it generally takes 2-3 weeks or longer before they even post it to their system after they actually receive it. If I am wrong I apologize in advance, but I just disputed rhis very rebate with CompUSA with my CC company and won my dispute. According to New Rochelle, the three Handspring/Glenayre rebate programs were never funded (at least as of the time that I checked) becase of a dispute between Glenayre and CompUsA over the terms of the rebate involving a required service contract that CompUSA did not require in their offer. Maybe they worked something out, but why would that pay your before the thousands of others already pending from the September/October/November offers? Just my 2 cents

Thanks yqren, That maks a lot more sense. This is definetly good news for people waiting on their Handspring/ Glenayre rebates! I agree that the trick is to keep calling. It is just unfortunate that you have to resort to such practices to get your rebates. BTW the program number for my Handspring/Glenayre offer was #4854. Posting your program number if you still have it would be helpful to others waiting, but if you don't have it that is OK.

Hmmm...dunno if I got my rebate from the same place you did, but the Offer # on mine is 4173. I got mine from CompUSA's site at http://www.cusarebates.com/coupons/0138506.pdf , when it was still up there.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with New Rochelle a minute ago and just before I was about to ask, the rep went ahead and expedited my rebate, which she claims I should receive in 7-9 business days. I'll be happy if that happens - it was due 1/27 but scheduled for mailing 3/5.

From what I have been able to determine, there were three different Handsring/Glenayre rebates offered through CompUSA. Some of the offers overlapped each other. The offer that I responded to started on 9/1/2001 and expired on 10/31/2001. Your offer #4173 I believe was valid from 9/30/2001 - 10/31/2001 and there was another offer that was valid from 10/15/2001 - 12/15/2001. I do not know the program number for that offer, but based on the several threads in the deal forums, I believe that the 10/15/2001 - 12/15/2001 offer is the one thsat most people responded to becase it was the one valid when everyone was PMing the combo to Office Depot in December. The fact that yqren sent his/her request on 11/30/2001 would indicated that this person was resaponding to the last offer. In any case, it is good to see some of these offers starting to be paid

Not to nitpick, but in the interest of accuracy, it states "between 9/25/01 and 12/1/01" on offer #4173. Maybe there's a 4th rebate form with different dates :Q

It is a good indication...but bizarre that they are paying a 11/30 rebate long before a 10/xx submission. If I wouldn't push them, I would have to wait until at least 3/15 to receive the rebate - that's almost 5 months, and unacceptable. At one point last year, I had about $4,000 out there in rebates, but I have really lightened up on rebates lately - I have only done 1 so far this year, due to current economic conditions.

If I recall correctly, the Hi-Tech rebates did not have a phone number or even a street address. The only address provided was a P.O. box somewhere in NJ.

Finally got my $10.00 rebate from a BB purchase in April 2001. Multiple phone calls starting in
August.

I complained loud and clearly to BB about two weeks ago. Now what has happened is that both
BB and the manufacturer have sent me the rebate.

I will consider it interest for holding on to my money for so long. 100% interest for 9 months holding my money represents about 125% APR. Usuary rates!!!!

Still have another dispute outstanding with Fuji re CD rebate since September. They sent me a rejection letter in November to which I promptly replied and repudiated their claim. On Friday last (1/25/02) I spoke with a rep and she promised to have a Supervisor call me on Monday. Today I had to call them and after I spoke with a supervisor she stated that she would mail me a check on Friday 2/2/02.

Now just two more old rebates hanging out there. Both are promised within three weeks. When they arrive I will be batting 1000 for rebates.

Secret: Keep photocopies and note all the dates/times and summary of your conversations with CSR. If necessary write to corporate and/or BBB and/or your State AG.

Had a lively discussion with a CSR last week when she stated that my "reward" would be mailed out. This raised red flags with me and I insisted that she correct that statement. It is a "rebate" and not a "reward". When they try to give me a hard time I always make the representation that upon my purchase of the item and my fulfilling every detail that they have requested that we have now entered into a legally binding contract. I have fulfilled my part of the contract and I expect them to fulfill their part. It always works for me. YMMV

You might be able to use some of the above tactics too.

For what it's worth - just got off the phone with Circuit City about a couple of rebates from late November that weren't showing online and the CSR found them but said even though they were mailed around 11/23, they weren't entered into the system until Jan 10! This, according to her, was due to the large number of rebate forms that arrived during the holidays. Shame on all of us for clogging up their systems! Anyway, she said 4-6 wks from then for the rebates. Those two rebates must have been entered by one of the slower CSR's since I received a check today $29.99 for the Digital Media 100PK CD-Rs (STI CDR100) purchased on the same day.

14 weeks and not a sign of my rebates, tried talking to the store manager here in amherst, ny, well that guy is a #@$%... who should i contact about this scam??

I called the rebate center, they claim my 30 dollar rebate from my sipix camera was sent out 25 days ago, well i never got it and it doesn't even show up on their rebate center, and my 70 dollar rebate for my vtech hellio will be sent out next week, so i am looking at 16 to 17 weeks to recieve that one and i am in the hole 30 bucks for the other.. Now i did these rebates correctly isn't illegal to say 8 weeks and then bam its actually 16-17?? I hate compusa, i will never buy anything from there again. Btw these products were from midnight madness in oktober 2001.

For some reason I only received 1 email for the MSN rebate, I should have received one for my wife and one for my dad. Anyhow, I used the link provided in the one email for all the accounts. (yes, the checks all go to different addresses ) You must log-in to your MSN Wallet for each account, so the link is a general link......Thus, in case you didn't get the email......

*edit* - I just checked my rebate status at wheresmyrebate.com, and two of the three have been "aproved". The Anachronox (ETA: 2/16/02) and the EPO (ETA: 3/12/02). The PNY one is just extemely slow, I guess. Anyone have status on that one?

Today I just received my $10.00 from the MS Intellimouse deal. Sent it in on 12/24/02 and received today. Pretty good indeed.

Through a screwup as Staples I got the 39.00 dollar mouse instead of the 29.00 one. Less a 10 off 40 coupon and the $10.00 rebate leaves it costing me $10.00. I am delighted with it.

staples screwups kick ass..i went in for the mouse with a $10 off $30 coupon (and the best buy flier showing the $40 mouse on sale for $30), and the cashier took off $30 and told me it was "basically free with the coupon" ... needless to say i briskly walked out

When checking wheresmyrebates.com, keep in mind that they freq. mispell last names. My name begins with a T, and they have it listed as a J. Interestingly, I had called on this rebate (the infamous visor one)a month ago, and they had the name and address both spelled incorrectly (and I was careful to print very clearly), and supposedly had corrected it. I wasn't concerned because it was in their system, but have been checking the website periodically and finally found it mispelled.

Visiontek Ti200 card, $50.00. Mailed 11/26/01, received 1/31/02. Called on 1/25/02 and had it expedited....'5 days late' is lightning fast for New Rochelle, isn't it? :Q


Following up on the Handspring/Glenayre rebate:

I mailed 2 submissions on 11/27/01. They weren't entered into the system until this year. I called on 1/8/02 and was told they would 'try' to expedite it. Nothing came, so I called again on 1/29/02 and this time both were expedited - status now shows MAILED for both rebates [the original 'scheduled mailing' date was 3/5/02]. Strangely, my mother's rebate never showed up in the online system until the check was mailed. Oh well, at least it's progress :Q
