Regarding the CompUSA/Handspring Glenayre rebate, you stated:
>>>I just disputed rhis very rebate with CompUSA with my CC company and won my dispute.<<<
I have attempted twice to dispute rebate items with Amex...I have always won every other dispute through Amex, except for 2 times where a rebate was involved. I just got a rejection letter stating: "the rebate is not part of the purchase transaction, and we are unable to demand rebate funds from this merchant. Therefore, we have removed the previously suspended"
From reading other posts that you have made recently, I gather you probably used the same credit card I did. Can you tell me what you told them, and on what basis were you able to successfully dispute this rebate with the CC? Thanks. >>
I disputed with AMEX Blue in December. On my iniitial phone conversation, I was told the same sh@t are you stated above y the AMEX CSR. , but I insisted that the rebate was as advertised by the merchant and was part of the original sale. After speaking to a CSR supervisor, my dispute was eventually accepted. As I stated earlier, I sent the actual CompUSA Sunday insert as well as an original rebate form, receipts and copies of all my rebate documents along with my dispute letter. I never received any additional contact from AMEX requesting any futher idocumentation. In Janruary, I received a phone call from AMEX telling me that CompUSA had not responded to my dispute in the requiresd 30 day period and that they needed some additional information. They asked me a couple of brief questions about my purchase. They asked how many times I had attempted to resolve the issue with my local B&M , and the name of the person that I talked to at CompUSA corporate about this issue that I had stated in my dispute letter. I gave them Ron Major's name and that was the end of that conversation. A few hours later, I received another call from the AMEX examiner telling me that my charge would be reversed and that I would receive a letter in a few days confirming the dispute resolution. I received the letter five days later. I asked the examiner if this was a permanent reversal and would I need to send them the merchandise from the disputed charge. She told me yes the reversal was permanent and I would not need to return the item. As I stated earlier, my backup plan was to return the item to AMEX under Blue's return protection benefit. I was also skeptical about the success of disputing the CompUSA charge on the basis of non-receipt of the associated rebate based on what I have heard from others who got caugt up in the Cyberrebate fiasco.
