Remember all those Thansgiving rebates from CompUsa? Finally received the last of them, except for the 5.00 rebate for CD Stomper labels that was never posted at Wheresmyrebate. Otherwise it was 355.00 worth. The three most expensive in particular: two 100.00 Glenayre/Visors and one 50.00 Xircom Visor modem, were the ones I had problems with.
I bought two Visors on my CC, one for me and one for a collegue from work. They approved both, one under my name and one under his in Jan 2002. Two weeks later both were denied because they said the same CC was used. I called and complained and they said both couldn't be claimed even though two rebates were allowed. I did get them to reinstate mine since I was the purchaser. I received it in the middle of February. My collegue called multiple times (6+) to CompUsa headquarters to complain since January and they finally agreed to send me the second 100.00 in my name which I then, gave to him at the end of March. They were claiming the rebate wasn't transferrable, but his claim to the CompUsa person was that it wasn't transferred at all since he gave me the money to me for the Visor and the moment it was purchased it became his, thus no transfer occured since it was his purchase, and two rebates were allowed anyway. They relented and it all worked out.
The Xircom modem had a check send date of 3-4-02, (after purchase on 11-26-01). I called several times after 3-11-02 and a CSR at wheresmyrebate said Xircom was holding all payments until April 4th and we all know what that means. I again, called CompUsa headquarters rebate dept and complained about how 17+ weeks was not acceptable and that I held up my end of the purchase and they did not and I would probably stop shopping at their store since I had to fight for so many of my rebates. MY 50.00 check was mailed in 3 days and got it on the 30th of March.
So people, if New Rochelle doesn't give you what you want to hear, call the CompUsa headquarters rebate dept and complain. It enabled me to get my rebates, where, otherwise I would have been SOL. I have given up on New Rochelle and ExpressGroup rebates for now. It's too much trouble to collect. If it wasn't 250.00 worth I might have given up. Hope the info helps out to someone in the same predicament.
