The funny thing here is that there are different stories depending on which Staples Rebate Center CSR you happen to get:

CSR #1: Don't know anything about Hi-Tech rebate or Hackensack, NJ rebate center. Call local Staples to get a phone number for this center.

CSR #2: Same as CSR #2 and calls ends with something to the effect of "Sorry, I don't know what to tell you."

CSR #3: The Hackensack, NY address on the rebate form was a *mistake*. The rebates were sent to the wrong address (and apparently lost in the Rebate Twilight Zone).

CSR #3 then took my info and said to wait another 4 to 6 weeks for the postcard check.

Weird stuff since, with the exception of this one rebate, Staples has been incredibly good with every other rebate I've submitted to them.

I called this number 1-877-266-6483 which is the staples rebate center number. She asked me for the manufacturer. As soon as I told her that it's HI-TECH, she said that originally these rebates were supposed to be processed in hackensack, NJ and later they were transferred to the staples rebate center.

wakeboarder, your $20 BB D-Link router rebate has been denied. Call the BB rebate call center at 800-849-0444 to confirm it. Don't waste your time trying to convince them to pay the $20 cause they can't do anything about it. Just go back to the BB store where you bought it and complain. If you ordered it online, call the BB Customer Relations office at 800-369-5050 opt. 5. Some people had their $20 rebate denied and others (like me) had their $5 NIC rebate denied. They screwed up their rebate database and it will only honor one of the two BB D-Link rebates (whichever one they happened to process first). The BB rebate call center doesn't have the authority to fix a little $5 or $20 rebate.

I called them and they said they received it but it was denied because I sent two in. Then I told him I sent two seperate rebates in. One for the ethernet card and one for the router, both are by D-Link. This confused him. After several minutes of explaining he kinda understood. Then he asked me if for the info for my $5 ethernet card rebate. Then I tried to explain I already got that one, the only one I didn't get was the router one and that I only submitted one router rebate, but it was showing up as two rebates submitted because of the ethernet card. Eventually he escalated it to the check issuing department. If the check wasn't issued and or isn't cashed then they are going to reissue it to me. Makes no sense since I was denied and it would have never been issued in the first place. Suppose to hear either way in two weeks but I think I'll call before then.

BEST BUY CALL CENTER = SUX BIGTIME.

gave staples a call for those hi-tech 25pk cd-r's and they said give it 4-6 weeks...

it's better than nothing I suppose.

Just got done calling the staples rebate center about the Hi-Tech 50 pack, $15 rebate. I was told they are now handling the rebate and to resend my information to:

Interesting, I just got an email last night that my submission is invalid due to wrong UPC or something like that,
where 2 weeks ago I got an email that everything is valid. That was after I called them to find out what is the status and first they denied receiving my submission. After I mentioned the date they received the paperwork (I have it thru USPS Delivery Confirmation), they "found" the paperwork and approve the submission.

Somehow I have a feeling that they're trying prune down paying the rebates.

Time to call to find out the real story.

HI-TECH CDR update. Phone number to call 201-848-9708.

I just talked to staples rebate center. They gave me a phone number for HI-TECH. It's 201-848-9708. I called this number. The guy said that I didn't send the original UPC code. He also said that the offer period ended on 12/18/01. It takes 12 weeks from that date. I told him that I sent in the original and I do have a copy of it. He said that since the program has ended there is nothing he can do about it. I am going to go back to staples and see what they can do. Hope this helps at least to find out your rebate status

I mailed three OD rebates( include maxtor 7200rpm hd ) from 10/01 to 12/01 to OD rebate center. The CSR said that they didn't receive any of them. I don't believe it. They said I have to fax all my information to their office again and it will need 8-12 week to re-process it.

Then I called OD, talked to a manager, she gave me $40 credit right away.

So don't waste time on EXPRESSGROUP, they are JERK. Call OD directly. they have to honor you.

Finally, finally got the Dazzle Video Creator 50 rebate...slowest rebate I have ever had from anyone except Philips; even Digital Research was faster than this one.

Mailed: 10/31/01
Received 2/19/02
Called: 12/31, 1/14, 1/25, 1/31, 2/4, 2/11, 2/15 2x. Bleh.
Expedited: twice
Total time: 15 weeks.

Parago officially sucks now.



Also got my Ebates check today...they included $60.00+ from the Dell monitor glitch fiasco where my orders were never processed. I'm going to complain about that :Q

This is regarding the BestBuy VisionTek GeF3...

OMG! I just found out the same thing! Mine & my brother's rebate was supposed to come in this week, checked about 2-3 weeks ago. And today, status said both rebates were DENIED b/c same receipt was used for 2 rebates!!

WTF? I used 2 different credit cards, my brother lives in another state, only thing was I forgot to block
out my name on the two receipt. ARGH! I sent in 2 different forms, 2 envelopes, 2 different receipt!

Tried calling the 800# on the rebate form, their computer is down (2/19/02), so will try again tomorrow. Called Bestbuy about it, lady was very helpful and gave me a case number for the manuf. rebate people to refer to.

Are these companies just looking for excuses to deny ppl their rebates?! I'm pissed...

Edit: All I know is either BB or Visiontek better come thr. with this cuz it's $100 that I'll be out of...

interesting BB Visiontek story above...read the rebate stipulations before purchasing an item ( should have bought one with CASH...kinda hard to tie a cc..with your name/mailing/billing address on it.. to greenbacked purchases ) .....[/b] Anyway[/b] SamsClub $100 ....ooooeee...came today from the WD100GB 7200rpm HardDrive deal from December 2k1...now where's my 2 $10 from BB Crucial DDR 256MB deal( heh...one bought with cash...my sis loves me and the other thru cc online w/ instore pickup )

Good luck with the escalation bit. Everyone I know that has complained to the BB Rebate Call Center has been shot down by the "escalation dept.". They will come back and say "sorry, we understand your problem but we can't do anything about it".

They are a bunch of weenies.

I recieved my $10 MIR on OM 50 pack of Khypermedia brand 12x 80 min cd's that were bought on 11/26.

This made them free after rebate, I will add them to the collection.

Did anyone buy the Staples Maxtor 20G HD with 30MIR on 2/17. They gave me the another model which is not the same box as on the ads. But, it is still 20G 5400RPM, $89.98 but different Kit #: K012020GH. Can anyone confirm it?

I have heard so many different stories about this Hi-Tech Rebate. Here is my new one. I called the Staples Rebate Center again to try to get them to take my information because last time they just told me to resubmit it. This time she did but instead of staples handling it she said that they were sent to the wrong rebate center, so staples was handling them, but now that has ended and Hi-Tech is now handling them again. But this period is also closed. I had to tell her I mailed it around thanksgiving and it said 10 weeks for the rebate to get there which is about now. Also that I heard nothing in the mail and there was no contact information on the form. She then made a special case for me and sent it to Hi-Tech. I should get my rebate in 6-8 weeks now, not the 4-6 that the ones handled by staples are going to be. Then I asked her for Hi-Tech's number so I can contact them if anything else goes wrong. She did not have any info on this so she told me to contact the staples support center at 1-800-3STAPLES.

Geez, what a mess. I'm glad I decided to return those Hi-Tech CDs back to Staples, even though they gave me a hard time.
