anyone have a copy of there dlink 704p upc, got letter saying that my upc wasn't in there. I have the box here, with the upc ripped off, so I'm guessing it was in there amd they lost it. If you have it yet it would be awesome if you could pm me or email it to me at atf@jza2000.com
Thanks

Cheap,

Dept 02-49609 was the manufacturer's rebate for the 40gb 7200 maxtor drive purchased at staples. It was a PDF file, hosted on maxtor's page.

Dept 02-49443 or whatever it was, was the staples rebate.

You needed to have mailed in the original UPC to 02-49609, and the copy to the staples rebate. Then what happened for others I know, is parago rejected the second submission, since the original UPC wasn't included, even though a note explaining the original was used for a manufacturer rebate was stapled with the paperwork.

Anyway, a simple call to staplesrebate center explaining this, and I got "what I am going to do is validate your submission sir" and 2 minutes later, sure enough, checked status at rebateshq.com and it was validated.

I can mail you the pdf file, but if you don't have the original upc, yer SOL. Even without it, $35 is still a good price and since you bought it before 10/1/2002, you still have an actual 3yr warranty on it.

Anyway

Staples rebate for sandisk usb smart media/compact flasher reader - $30 = Validated

Staples rebate for 100pk spindle maxel 650 meg 40x max cdrs, received and validated 7 days from the date I mailed it!

Maxtor 40gb 7200 rpm drive, both rebates validated

Verbatim 40x12x48 $40 rebate, and the pdf file can be found at:

http://www.staples.com/products/rebates/09_30_02_10708ver.pdf

Not sure yet, only just mailed it in a week ago since I bought drive on 9/.24. I spoke to a staplesrebate center manager, couple csrs, one who spoke to supervisor who was supposed to call me back, this offer # isn't in their computers or parago's. So suspect it will be rejected by parago, then I'll have to call up staplesrebate center, get them to use a webpage and go to the link on their own page to prove offer, since they are hosting it, to get validated. CSR wouldn't commit, but, basically said staples rebate center is very flexible, and was trying to intimate that if it is rejected, they will likely validate it if I call, he just wasn't gonna come straight out and say that exactly.

Logitech clicksmart 310 - Valid purchase dates listed as being 04/01/2002 through 12/31/2002 = Bought in august along with linksys router from amazon.com, rebate was rejected. I later found out that this specific promotion was supposed to have ended on 7/31/2002, at least according to a pdf file I dug up on dell.com's webpage. However, as others in various forums like broadbandreports can attest, rebate form from parago said 4/1/2002 - 12/31/2002. After much complaining, I got it validated since I am pretty certain august comes in between april and december. Link and offer number now no longer work at rebateshq.com, so guess it was a mistake and now they yanked it.

Of all places, staples is best, any problems and they usually will validate it if you call and state your case.

Compusa I kinda hate, sent in a rebate once for an online only promotion, rebate processing place rejected it because no B&M store receipt was included. No duh, it was an online deal, invoice and purchase receipt was included.

Hi-Val I avoid like the plague, last time I had a rebate with them, they lost the first submission, they lost it on their desk after I faxed it again, and tried to claim they lost it on their desk a 2nd time, took intervention by the BBB to get rebate. This was before iomagic bought them.

Had good success with bestbuy so far, knock on wood.

Recently bought microsoft wheel mouse optical and AOE II with the intention of submitting rebates. Kinda wish I had read this thread first and realized TCA would be handling the submission. Anyway, hope I get a clerk with an IQ above lab monkey who approves the rebate submissions and I don't have to argue.

Them's my experiences, anyway, except for verbatim maybe snafu, had nothing but great success with staples every single time when it comes to rebates, usually around 4-6 weeks instead of 8-12 like so many other places..

Btw, here's a couple thoughts I'd like to share.

1) Always check details, including beginning and end dates, of rebate offers mentioned on a webpage BEFORE buying the product. Even now, Officemax is saying there is an $8 manufacturer's rebate on the kypermedia 50k spindle and a $6 officemax rebate when you view the product.

http://www.officemax.com/max/soluti...xpansionOID=-536891921&prodBlockOID=536956913

However, one look at the rebate form shows the offer was from 9/8 to 9/14. It's an *expired* offer. Yet if you don't check this first, you could buy it thinking these rebates are available, it says they are available, but if you buy it now, they are definitely NOT no matter what officemax's page is saying since it hasn't been updated.

2) Look at the dept. # of the rebate offer. With places that deal with parago/rebateshq, the dept number IS the offer number. Staples was selling the 40x cdrw verbatims, yet the checkout printed 2 rebate redemption forms, 02-50008 and 02-49828. Plus the 02-49193 PDF file I listed above, they really were confused on this with 3 rebates, but I digress. The 02-49828 one does not show up in staple's computers, I called, and isn't on rebateshq.com's webpage, so nevermind what the redemption form says nationwide. That offer number also used to show up on staple's page, yet before it's offer end date staples had yanked it and returned it as an invalid promotion code, rebateshq.com never showed it as existing to begin with. 02-50008 you shouldn't have a prob, that shows up on parago's site. Once you know the dept #/offer number, go on rebateshq.com and 'get your rebate' and search by promotion number. If the promotion number isn't found, let that be a red flag, no matter what your rebate submission form says, parago ain't got it in their computers. Which means, parago is probably going to reject it. Doesn't mean you can't get it if you complain, etc, but don't expect an especially smooth transaction. If you are eligible for one of multiple rebates on the same product, and are undecided as to which one to submit for, go with the one that actually shows up in parago's system over the one that isn't. I forgot my own advice here and submitted for offer 02-49193 for $40, I should have gone with the conservative $30 with offer # 02-5008 and been done with it. So in short, if you know parago is going to be processing the rebate, see if they have even HEARD of it first. If not, expect a bumpy ride when it comes to validation time, and consider that before making your purchase.

I've learned these the hard way.

COLUMBIA FRS 14SP-2 (SKU# 294866) FROM COMPUSA

10/02/02
====================
Called today (10/2/02) for status.

Received and accepted; but the check won't be mailed until 12/2/02. WTFO?!

Yet another visit to the FTC to complain.

10/07/02
====================
Called again today. Now they've changed it so I only get a $14.99 rebate.

Went to the store and described the situation to a manager (Frank). He ponied up the diff between the $14.99-from-out-of-nowhere rebate and the $25 originally offered. Good 'nuff. Hopefully the check will arrive. REALLY burns me that they aren't printing them until Dec. Hope lots of people file complaints and the FTC sues them.

Oh, please, please, please e-mail the pdf to me at alex6165@hotmail.com, I'm tearing my hair out overhere for not doing this promptly and now pdf is gone from maxtor site and it will come out to 50 bucks for me without that rebate and I got layed off work! BTW, I'm really liking this liquid bearing Maxtor HD, really nice and quite. Helluva lot more quieter than my old WD 13gig one. Thanx.

RebatesHQ are crooked or very inefficient :| . I emailed my rebate refusal to them and finally got this:

Dear LivetoSurf: Rebate ID: *******

Thank you for your rebate inquiry. You are a valued MAXTOR consumer, so we are pleased to inform you that we have updated your record as a one-time courtesy. Your rebate submission is now valid. Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive your rebate. Note that the check is remitted in the form of a postcard and will not arrive in an envelope.

We appreciate your participation in this promotion. If you have any further questions, please contact us at rebates@parago.com.

Promotions Customer Service

It is sad that you have to exert pressure on them when you obviously complied with their promotion. To the others above that are being denied, call the toll free # and hit # for an operator or send a complaint email from their site, it should work out for you.

If you have a problem with a rebate handled by rebateshq, and it's for a staples purchase/rebate, you are almost certainly better off dealing with staples rebate center.

Rebateshq is not worried about losing you as a customer, since you have bought nothing from them.

Staples is.

Rebateshq looks at the staples rebate, and sees original upc as a requirement, so they are basically just following the instructions given to them. On this one, I can't fault them really.

When it comes to a staples rebate, staples calls the shots, not rebateshq.com. For this reason, staples can easily punch a few keys and validate a rebate.

Dealing with rebateshq when it comes to a staples rebate, is like dealing with a hard to get thru to middle person, when you could call up "the man" and get someone usually polite and not inclined to argue.

Just my opinion though, ya know what they say about those

When you check online were they all mailed on 9/25? If so, I have a theory. I had three that were mailed on 9/25. I think they must have sent a bunch of checks out becasue it was the end of the quarter.

Same thing happen to me,

I call RebatesHq (1-877-580-3348) and she told me that I did not purchase CenDyne 48x12x48 drive on the right date. But she would approve the rebate for a one time deal. I still argue the point, that I did buy the drive on the right date, and she told me that her Terms and Condition said the offer end on 9-7-02 (which is one week earlier [9-14-02] than the rebate form I have from OM). She told me to call OM to correct the problem.

I call OM (1-877-633-4236) and CSR told me it was manufactures rebate and if enough people complained, it would be changed (which is poor business).:|

Here is one that I need some assistance on now. I purchased the 128 meg PC133 PNY memory stick for $20 back on 9/2/01 (Yes, over 1 year ago). I mailed in the $20 rebate for this item, along with the rebates for Kai's supergoo, samsung cd-r's and a qps cd-rw. I received all of the other rebates except this one for the memory. I sent in 2 more copies of the form, upc, and receipt to TCA and faxed them 2 copies too. TCA claims to have never received any of these forms, despite my confirmations of the fax being sent each time. I have contacted the BBB and filed a complaint, but still nothing. Any idea as to what I should do next? I am not about to let these b@stards off the hook. Thanks in advance.

TGD

PS Please PM or post a reply here with your advice. Thanks again.

After the first time they claimed never to have received it, you should have sent the 2nd and 3rd submissions with delivery confirmation so you would have proof later on, ie when contacting the BBB, that you had sent them the information.

Hi-Val did this same crap once, no surprise there, claimed not to have gotten the first submission, second one faxed they got, 3rd time they said "oh we lost it on our desk, fax it again" so faxed it again, claimed the ol' lost it again. Funny, they claim they are not responsible for lost submissions, I wonder if they just mean in the mail or if they lose it as well

Send it delivery confirmation or signature confirmation, then you'll have proof you sent them paperwork. TCA is from what I can gather one of the worst, had I known that, I wouldn't have gone for the rebate on the MS mouse and MS AOE II rebates since TCA will be handling it.

Rebateshq is trying to deny me the $40.00 rebate on a CenDyne burner. When I first check the status of this rebate, it was valid. Two weeks later when I check to see when the rebate would be coming, it no longer says so. The excuse given is that they did not receive the serial number. Not getting anywhere with Rebateshq(even sent copy of submissions) so I contacted CenDyne and as requwsted, submitted copy of submissions to CenDyne. Hope this goes through.

FYI, I faxed the documents to 714 619 2517, Att: Charlotte

In case anyone is waiting for a rebate on the Amazon deal, you might not want to hold your breath.
I called rebatestatus today and they said they had "forwarded" that rebate to another company directwebresouce.com.
Not looking good :-(

oh, I'm sorry it was the Amazon Addtron Wireless USB adapter deal.
It did it twice, once in May and once in July and it seems that in both cases the rebates were transfered to another company (originally wheresmyrebate.com and rebatestatus.com) to another one called diretwebsresource.com.
This is looking bad.
No live person over there :-(

Same thing here, all with rebateshq,
-OM CenDyne was rejected $30 because the purchase date is not correct
- 80G Maxtor $30 because org upc is not used Dept 02-49607 (sent photocopy)
- 40G Maxtor $30 because org upc is not used Dept 02-49606 (sent photocopy)
- Khypermedia $8 rebate on CDR is postmark after the deadline (a few days off)

call in and have all "valid" save the $98

But the CenDyne 40X CDRW was still rejected because the org serial No and UPC are not included (as same as wiin), call the first time, as to resubmiss,

try to call the second time, get caught (they have record of calling....?), may have to fax in, but the fax number is busy.... may need to call again.

yesterday I got my CenDyne $50.00 rebate for the 32x12x40 burner I bought in August from Staples.... I probably sent the rebate about the 20th of August or so. I had been pretty worried, because I kept checking StaplesRebates.com and it wasn't showing up.... but I got my rebate yesterday and much to my surprise it was a CenDyne rebate, even though I'm pretty sure I sent the stuff to Staples. Just wanted to let people know that they won't be able to get info from Staples on this rebate
