Okay, this was the final enticement. Just went and signed up for BLUE. Wonder how long it takes for the cards to arrive???

Thx for the post!

EDIT: It gave me the option to get an account number right now online for immediate use.

Then it told me their server wasn't responding. :disgust:

I would not use the $50 coupon. AMEX states that the item must be purchased in full by AMEX. They will deny your claim if you use the coupon.

I just called and they said using the coupon was fine, but they wouldnt do it for stores that already have a low price guarantee. Has anyone ever gotten an Amex pricematch with Staples before?

Just got off the phone with AMEX CSR: David 1800blue741

David: "All coupons are taken into consideration for the pricematching program. Basically what ever gets charged to your card, the final price, is what AMEX uses to pricematch the difference with your lower found add."

SO: use the $50 coupon!!!! Mo Money! Mo Money! and Mo Money!!!

Wow, not bad. I wanted to know if AMEX Blue would let us use BVG on this. Now the big question is, does it matter that the 'CompUSA ad' (ie. printout of old webpage) is valid, since even on the saved HTML page, you can clearly see a date of 8/24/01. So, if you buy it say today on 8/27/01, will they even let you pricematch an 'old' price at CompUSA?? And don't tell me to edit the HTML to change the date because that's fraud, and we don't want to rip off AMEX Blue and have them quit letting us PM and get deals like this one (assuming it can work).

How does PM using Amex really work? I have the blue, and I called for a PM like a month ago. Basically, the person gave me a case number, and told me to fax in the proof of the PM price, and the original receipt. I faxed in both items, but I have yet heard anything back from Amex. For those of you guys who used Blue PM before, how did it turn out for you? Do they instantly give you the PM price? Or was it a situation like mine where you had to fax in the materials? And how long did it take for you to get your money back?

Anyone know if availability makes any difference on the PM? If you look at the ComUsa ad, it says "N/A" on it, or does the item has to be available?

Pricematching with AMEX:

FAX: original reciept
FAX: lower price ad

sidenote: recently they've been wanting a time stamp on when you've printed out the lower price found ad, my printer doesn't do timestamp or headers so I just print out on a seperate piece of paper with my user id and a date & time.

I've performed this twice this year($1000 per year/ $250 per purchase) and both times have taken 2-4 weeks for the check to arrive.

Can anyone confirm this PM will work? I really want/need a digital camera right now and was bummed to have missed the old S100 deal by probably a lousy 20 minutes. I don't want to risk having $450 tied up in the camera from Staples and then having to return it if I can't get the BVG from AMEX Blue.

Another thing, you can set your browser options to print out a timestamp, URL, page number, etc. Does AMEX also want to see a URL? If so, there's no way you could have a timestamp of say today and still have the 'old' URL since the page is no longer active.

Also, as mentioned before, Staples has their own pricematch policy, and the webpage lists the stock as "N/A". There seem like there could be many 'gotchas' on this deal and I'm this close from pulling the trigger, but I'd really like some confirmation first that this would be possible.

does amex also refund the difference in tax???

Tax on $449 will be more than on $199. Does amex refund the tax amount too????

Order it online, then call the CSR at staple and tell them you had trouble entering the coupon, They usually credit you credit card on a separate transaction. so maybe $150!!!!!!!!

robsdeals,

That wouldn't work because you would already be over the $250 limit. The whole point of being able to use the coupon is to get in at just the $250 limit ($450 - $250 = $200). However, like someone said before, factoring in tax at $450 would mean you'd still be maxing out the $250 limit, but all in all, I don't really care that much if I have to pay tax on the $450. I just want a good camera at a good price!!!

uummm... no.... read the thread again. AMEX will refund up to $250 per item. If you purchase at $500, AMEX will only price match to $250. Less $50 is still $200.

I don't know how legit this is. According to the Amex site:
Best Value Guarantee
With the Best Value Guarantee, you'll pay the lowest price available on items purchased with the Card. If you see a covered item advertised in print for less than you paid within 60 days of the purchase date, we'll refund the difference to you, up to $250 per item.

I don't know how using an ad from 8/24 from a purchase made 8/27 will fly. Not worth the risk for me that AMEX will refuse the price match -- I guess you could always return to Staples...

I see a lot of holes. I cannot comment on Amex Blue because I don't have one, but the HTML listing clearly shows stock as "NA". Any CSR, ample minded, would see that.

Doesn't mean to rain on your parade, but the $199 price, as everyone knows, is not valid now. I can understand it would be grey area if you bought the camera from staples before the CompUSA/S100/$199 thing. But now it's all over. And if you purchase from staples just now, I don't think AMEX would BVG.

Of course you can send in "proof", as a matter of fact, you can even pick any price you want with html coding, but that's FRAUD. This thread should be locked.

<< I have updated My Personal Copy of the CompUSA Website S100 Deal. >>

Gultig,

You have obviously edited the HTML. Please do not post such proof of your FRAUD because it may get you as well as other forum members into trouble.

It's easy to verify that your page is FRAUDULENT because of the stock status timestamp on the page. Don't be surprised when AMEX sends the feds after you and haul you off to jail.
