Scorched Earth was a complete classic, I dont know how you could have gone this far in a community like Anandtech without hearing about it. Pure classic.

Yes, I have heard of Scorched Earth. I actually bought the game back when it was still new.

Yeah, FFM has the right idea. I say you check out Firingsquad's reviews of each of the below games and consider what you want the most.

1. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Great graphics, boring-assed single player mode and amazing multiplayer. Personally, I'd rather buy Half-Life and play mods off of it than this.

2. Aliens vs. Predator 2: Playing this at night as a Marine is going to give you chills. This is one scary-assed game to play in single player mode, but fun as hell too. Graphics aren't the greatest, I haven't tried multiplayer yet.

3. Civilization 3: Boring to me and no multiplayer AFAIK, but if you like God/emperor strategy games, this is probably the most engrossing one out there.

let's start with Scorched Earth (great old school game), its called Worms today
family fun: Typing of the Dead, The Sims
shooters: Delta Froce Land Warrior - great for all skills and multiplayer online, Voyager Elite Force (7of9)
strat: Warcraft, Starcraft - a little complex at first, Star Trek Armada
of course these are my opinion

Max Payne is a good one too.

I haven't had a chance to play Wolf in multiplayer... but everyone raves about it... but if that's not your cup of tea (or Wolf is too expensive in your stores) try out Ghost Recon... w00t! Multiplayer rocks in that game. It's different from CounterStrike... but it still rocks!
Methinks someone did a "kill Osama" scenario too, hehehe...

We used to get like 6 of us guys in junior high/HS together and play it.
I have a clone of it that runs over irc, kinda cute.

*sigh* the good ol days... I remember looking up in Computer Shopper, back in the day when it was twice as big and as thick as a phone book, for the price on a 72 pin 1 meg ram chip for my 386... it was like 75 bucks or somehting like that...

Isn't Scorched Earth like 4-600k?

OK, the deadline has been moved. 6pm tommarow (probably). So far the leading idea is between Civ3 and Ghost Recon. Wolf is like $65-$70!!! Its freaking nuts. Fallout never seemed as good to me after Jagged Alliance 2 (I loved that game). Maybe Red Faction.....
