I recently graduate with b.s. Finance at worse possible time with absolutely no work being currently available. Planing on taking couple of real estate class at jc in spring to keep my self busy while waiting for economy to recover. What is everyone doing in this recession if you can't find a job?

Me, I might be looking for a job shortly seeing how I think i got written up / will get complained about to my manager and possibly HR.

Sad day

I guess i can't raise a beer to all of us looking for a job in this poor economy.

Honestly, I don't believe there is "no work is available." What you mean to say is, "no work is available" that I am willing to do. There are plenty of entry level positions that will higher you; of course, you won't be making much more than 30k a year. But hey, 30k and benefits is somewhere to be WHILE you look for something in your field.

I know lots of people out of work who would KILL for 30k / yr right now. There are so few positions open that each job receives 3 or 4 x the usual number of applicants.

I had to laugh at this one. No pun intended OP. If you want to start a lucrative job/career at this point in time, get the heck out of the financial sector. Choosing real estate as a backup is absolutely horrible right now as well.

Try to get a job at a bank as a teller/new account rep. The pay isnt great but you get exp in your field and if you show yourself to be a good employee will move up, eventually.

Most, if not all highly successful people i know started their careers at the bottom.

How about a vague phone call from a recruiter for a job paying $20k?
