Manufacturer Recertified OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTX100G 2.5" 100GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

This seems like an extremely good deal considering you can't even purchase a new 64GB SSD at this price... and if you are worried about the drive failing because most OCZ drives have bad reviews concerning high failure rates, for an additional $8 you can pick up a 2 year replacement plan!

If you have not experienced the joy of having an SSD boot drive, now would be a perfect time to do so!

i'm using my $29/AR ocz agility 3 128gb still. surprisingly still works.

however I had received two REFURB OCZ Vertex 2 which 1 was doa, and the other was flakey on hibernate/wake.

There is a reason they are going out of business

Oh well, I still picked one up for just over 50 bucks with the 2 year service plan. I'm only going to use it as a boot drive so if it fails, no big deal all I have to do is re-install the OS and I will get a replacement or a refund. It's worth it imo.

I figure, .45/GB is worth a shot on a SSD, which I've never had a problem the 6+ I've ever bought in past 5 years. Cheapest and I will use as a boot drive or cache with Intel. I believe they update the firmware and you get a warranty. If it's DOA, I'll know day 1. Never had an SSD fail on me yet. I trust SSD reliability more than mech drives and this is cheap for 100 GB. 120 gb would have been perfect, but still much better than 64 GB.

Yeah, and even at the current price of $59.99 it's still a pretty damn good deal for a 100GB SSD!

64GB is just too close for comfort for me, since I am already close to 40GB on my current windows 8 SSD boot drive. And besides, new 64GB SSDs are around 50 bucks.

They have been going out of business for over a year now. Don't think that's happening.

The vertex 2 was and still is a total POS.

You can get a new, Kingston v300 120 GB SSD for about $80, which is about $25 more than this deal with the 2 years of warranty included. The Kingston is SATA 3, has more space, is much faster, is much more reliable, has much better support, and has a longer warranty. I think not having to reinstall your OS multiple times alone is worth $25.

ill probably never buy junk no matter how great the rebate is from tiger direct.. unless this is from another vendor.

Anyway this is for computers i'm junking on ebay, 60 bucks is more than cheap enough for me

I never get the rebates, even with photo copy proof that says UPC code, etc. I rather pay higher and no go through a TD rebate, you almost never get them.

I had to dispute it with my cc and it took a while because they keep claiming they dont process the rebates. I had to send my cc company tons of links about TD rebates not going through before they refunded me the difference

FWIW, I've had a 40GB Vertex 2 going pretty hard in an OC'd Win 7 backup rig for nearly 2.5 years now and no issues.

snagged one with 2 year warranty (extra 10$), figured its worth the risk.

Going to move my Origin folder into this, hopefully it will improve my BF4 load times in multiplayer.

Peace

Let us know about the results, I have been thinking of doing the same since BF4 takes forever to load even though I have a fairly fast HDD.

This drive runs great in my new rig so far i5 3570k and Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe. Installed win 7 64 bit without any issues. Boots and restarts fairly quickly. For some reason it was kind of picky with the SATA cable and port I used though. Took me a few different tries/combinations in order to get my system to recognize it. Had no issues recognizing it on my ancient s939 Opteron rig though.

I wish I had ordered another one while they were still in stock

Really glad I grabbed one of these in time. Just installed it in a PC with an SATA II mobo. It has the most recent firmware and works great. Good cheap extra storage.

TD is making it hotter using v.me checkout - but you still probably wont get your rebate money back.

OCZ Vertex 450 Series 128GB SATA III Solid State Drive + Total Defense $29.99
TigerDirect has the OCZ Vertex 450 Series (VTX450-25SAT3-128G) 128GB 2.5" Internal SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD) for a low $59.99 after rebate. $5 Shipping. Tax in FL, GA, ID, IL, NC, SD, TX. This is $20 less than elsewhere. [Compare Prices]
Don't mind rebates? TigerDirect has it with Total Defense Security for $49.99 after rebate.

Get an extra $20 off $100 when you checkout with V.me Checkout by Visa, which is similar to PayPal and takes all credit cards, not just Visa. This brings the price down to $59.99 or $29.99 with Total Defense rebate.

I wouldn't ever touch a Vertex 2. I had two go out on me within a year. I've had a Intel 320 since they launched without any issues for 3 years.

See the two Vertex 2's in my signature?

They just died. And they were both recertified warranty replacements. That makes three of them for me.

I'm RMAing them and just bought an 840 Evo.

You say this like "SSD" is a brand name or a model type. Strange.

SSDs have wildly varying degrees of reliability. This one is a lemon. They arnt all the same.
