You won't even notice the 1080p at 37". It's a waste of money. You will only notice when you get over 42" IMO.

Also, i didn't see you mention it is recertified.

This is in one of the reviews. A big draw back.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to join the millions of people who have upgraded to HDtv's and thought I could save a few hundred dollars but it appears that this was a big mistake I'll just have to live with. Read and understand the non-returnable and non-refundable policy on Newegg's recertified products. Hopefully I can eventually get this remote control problem corrected, otherwise it's just an expensive oversized computer monitor.

Agreed. I have a 720p 37" Olevia (not this one) and it looks great at 720p. To go up to 1080p, you're looking at a significant price jump (likely almost 2x the cost).

If you plan on using it as a computer monitor, 1080P is a must for 1920x1080

Also if you're sitting close enough you'll notice.

btw, this is reburbished, I wouldn't buy a reburbed LCD.

That recertified policy makes it most tempting. However, they also have a bulk item return policy on tv's this size that says "Bulk Items (including but not limited to such items as Air Conditioners, Home Entertainment Systems and Televisions 24 inches and larger) cannot be returned to Newegg.com for refund or replacement service. MY question is: Which policy get precedent in this case? If the refurb policy overrides the bulk item policy, then I am quite tempted. However, if I am going to buy a refurb and have no option to return it to Newegg then I really gotta think long and hard.

So, does anyone know how this would work? Would Newegg hold to the recertified policy first or would the bulk item policy be the one that they would go by?

Though you may not get a warrenty through NewEgg you are guaranteed a warranty through Olevia and from what I read from the reviews of this TV they have been pretty good! But I would have to say that this item would be considered a Bulk Item and thus no return / replacement for this TV through NewEgg.

I bought the 32" 232v recert from newegg for $500. It had a standard return policy, one of few on the page that does. I can return it for a year and newegg will replace it. I have had no problems so far, and I saved over $100 off what I could get it locally. I would buy a recert again.

I spoke with NewEgg.com online chat and they told me the TV carries a 15 day return policy but no more.

I called Olevia customer service and they told me that any recertified or non-retail tv only carries a 90 day warrenty.

So it might just be better to buy the TV retail

Yeah, but I would figure that companies would offer a better warranty than the 90 day crap for their refurbished / recertified stuff.

Gotta remember, it's recertified by a technician. It doesn't mean it's recertified by the manufacturer. The 90-day warranty is the best you'll get for offering a warranty on work by a third party. We do that with cell phones. :/ With us recertified isn't even OEM parts I'd say better off going retail in the long run, but a cheap price.

If you actually check out with the item without paying it says the return policy is Bulk Item so I guess that online tech did not know what the hell they were talking about.
