Greetings,
I spent about 20 hours researching rechargeables. I almost got one of those big sets for $180, but then got smart and kept reading and looking.
The best place I found was
Thomas Distributing. If you buy say more than $75 you can ask for a 10% disc. and likely get it.
NOTE: I found out that there are no 9v's that have as much juice as a standard cheap one. For what ever reason they just are not as good. Some toys or remotes and such can be very specific. So I would not generally waste time with the 9v's.
Those
PowerEx batteries seem to be the best. 2700 mah. That is what I bought. These batteries last way longer than any other standard alkaline or what ever. Canon S3 IS 4xAA
This NEW MAHA POWEREX MH-C401FS Battery Charger is what I got and I love it. Excellent charger.
If you want to do C's or D's check out
this charger.
Regardless, get those Powerex branks if you can. But look at the mah rating. e.g. AA go from say 1700 mah to maybe 3000 mah now. Charger needs to be able to match also.
Rechargables loose about 1 to 1.5 v's each day so you can not just leave them forever. If you do they may start taking less of a charge...
Get a charger that can re-conditionthem if they need it. Also, get one where if you leave the batteries in it past chargeing it will STOP charging them and level them off as needed.
Chargers that can charge say any size in singles not pairs is also the way to go. e.g. you don't have to charge Two AA's at same time, but could do an AAA and 3 AA's.
My son has one of those cheap $20 games you plug into the TV and it is all in the remote. Has no save function, but he can just leave it on if he likes cause I can recharge it when he finishes the game. My camera take twice as many pics as other batteries with them.
Peace and Blessings.
