Arabian Sands by Wilfred Thesiger

Arabian Sands is Wilfred Thesiger?s record of his extraordinary journey through the parched ?Empty Quarter? of Arabia. Educated at Eton and Oxford, Thesiger was repulsed by the softness and rigidity of Western life??the machines, the calling cards, the meticulously aligned streets.? In the spirit of T. E. Lawrence, he set out to explore the deserts of Arabia, traveling among peoples who had never seen a European and considered it their duty to kill Christian infidels. His now-classic account is invaluable to understanding the modern Middle East.

Any books by Lord Dunsany, Robert E. Howard, Harold Lamb, and Terry Pratchett

The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis: http://www.librarything.com/work/1698158
About bored wealthy college students at Camden. Good shit. Similar reads are American Psycho, Less than Zero, and Glamorama all also by Bret Easton Ellis. Also similar and funny (Ellis isn't really humorous) is Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney.

A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick: http://www.librarything.com/work/16566
Hilarious book about drugs and addiction. Also has an excellent movie adaptation with Keanu Reeves in his best role to date IMO.

I liked this book but some of the shit in it is pretty far fetched. (enviro-terrorists I mean). It's a real eye opener about the fear mongering in the media today.

I started to read this series at my brothers recommendation but got bored after the 4th or 5th book. If you liked Foundation, I'd recommend The Worthing Saga by Orson Scott Card: http://www.librarything.com/work/825749

Also, librarything.com is the coolest site ever. check it out.

I finished "The Emperor's Children" a couple weeks ago.

Not a lot of action, but a good read.

Will do. I like Card's other stuff (Ender's Game series, Ender's Shadow series, Homecoming Saga, etc). Unfortunately, I don't have time to read much outside of required History reading.

Robert Heinlein's Time Enough For Love. You might want to read The Past Through Tomorrow first though.

Overrated. I didn't enjoy it that much. Especially the pictures. They're weird.

Read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

BTW, I love the movie Romeo & Juliet.

I am reading The Broker by Grisham, really good book so far. If you are looking for an easy, entertaining read I have heard that The Appeal by Grisham is also really good.

Dead Souls by Nikolay Gogol
Set in Russia during the early 1800's
I'm reading it now so I can't vouch for it holding up to the end, but so far it's been pretty good and at the least proves to be a wonderful window into early 19th century Russia.

The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind by Julian Jaynes

Not light reading by any means....but a really unique perspective on the human mind and how we got to where we are today in re:though processing, metaphoric speaking, religion, etc.

The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. One of my favourite books of all time, I'm about to start reading it for the 3rd time.

Also Red Earth and Pouring Rain by Vikram Chandra. I've read it twice and will definitely read it again; just a fantastic story.

I just finished rereading Aristoi, by Walter Jon Williams. Excellent scifi book. I'd also recommend Pandora's Star and its sequel, Judas Unchained, both by Peter F. Hamilton.
