I know it sounds ridiculous but it's really hard for me to find a shoe with a thin enough sole. I drive a standard and the feel is so much better with a thing soled shoe. Granted, I hate shopping so I generally look online, get frustrated and give up. I've had Puma Speedcats in the past but they don't last all that long. I'm wearing some Steve Maddens right now that we're given to me so I don't have much to compare to.

Any die-hard standard drivers out there that know what I'm talking about and have some awesome shoes to recommend??

Get some simple slip on deck shoes. The soles are thin and the toe is narrow. They worked for Thomas Magnum

i like adidas sneakers, but short product life pisses me off. a few years ago i had their goodyear shoe and now i'm wearing a david beckham shoe. when i need to replace these i'll pick 1 of theirs most similar to this:

thin sole, thin soft leather upper, a much better fit for wide feet than puma

I swear by Nike Free. It's not so much as they are thin soled as they flex a lot (the rubber is split into "plates") the length of the shoe.

I use 5.11 A.T.A.C 8" tactical boots. They work good for driving, walking, running, kicking people in the face....

I use new balance and oakley. The new balance has a thinner sole but the oakley more of a rolled heal and feels like it will last longer.

Puma's speedcats were decent for me, but any thin soled shoe will do.

A very worn out running shoe can be used as well. Some people go so far as to sand down a bit of sole, since running shoes tend to have very poor feedback for the clutch pedal.

I wonder if Vibram's 5 fingers would work well... maybe too thin of a sole and it would just end up hurting the "balls" of your feet?

Real driving shoes (i.e. racing shoes made out of nomex) have virtually no sole. They don't hurt your feet.

Having a rounded, grippy, heel helps a lot. Running shoes are so built up around the heel that they don't work well, even if they're worn down.

I have the Adidas Porsche design. Best shoes ever. I will be so sad when they're too worn out. I can only hope to find something similar again.

You go driving around town in yours?

I only wear my Simpsons when at the track.

Hehe, I have a pair of Piloti shoes, or I wear flip-flops and kick them off and go barefoot when driving.

*zips up GForce flame suit that matches GForce shoes*

i wear either my vans or my skechers work boots with waffle soles. it is much more comfy to me in the boots, but that may be due to my truck having a pretty stiff clutch in it. but the vans definitely are a thin soled shoe, i can almost feel the ridges on the clutch pedal when i wear them.
