It's $535 at amazon and $550 at costco.com. I think I'll go with amazon b/c of cheaper price plus no tax, although I do like the peace of mind that buying things from costco brings.

Looking at buy.com they have it for 548.09 then you can use that 20 off 50 for google checkout. free shipping also, that'll save you ~7 dollars.

great popular, simple units... like the Canon digital Elph of the GPS world: Garmin Nuvi 350/360/660 and Tom Tom One
350 is old line; 360 is popular new line; 660 is more expensive new line

Tom Tom has great interface and easy to use, but doesnt pronounce street names like Nuvi (ie turn right in 300 meters instead of turn right at mccoy rd)

other good ones are Garmin 2xxx series, Lowrance i500... these are good, and may have more features, but the previous have the superior form factor and out-of-the-box use.

if you have a PDA you can also get TomTom software and use it on there with a GPS receiver. thats my current set-up and works GREAT. i also have a Nuvi 360 on order but its awaiting shipment.

Shouldn't have gone to check them out in person... the Nuvi 660's screen is SUPERIOR, and I am not talking about the widescreen. The resolution and contrast on it are 20 times better than the Nuvi 360. The 360's screen has a constant "washed out" appearance, while the 660's was strikingly clear and vivid. I might have to pony up the difference in $$$ for the 660.

Why did I go check them out on person!?!?! If I hadn't I wouldn't have known the difference! Not sure what I'm going to do though...

I highly recommend the tomtom ONE that I have - I like it a lot. TT also has a $100 off promotion for all of their units for Christmas that's good up until jan. 6th called givegive. The ONE is incredibly easy to use, maps are really accurate - up to date, and really small if I want to take it out of the car and walk around with it.

how does that compare to the Navman icn510?

I have the Navman 510 as well. The maps are gorgeous (compared to Garmin's), but they aren't updated.

I have the Navman icn520 and I hate it. So much so that I just replaced it with a TomTom One, gen 2.

you could have just installed tom tom on the navman

that said, I bought the mio digiwalker for $120 and I'm happy. it was an "upgrade" from the icn 510 navman, which I bought for $99 last year

I have the mio c310x and it works great. I wish it had text to speech but oh well, that just means I should pay attention.

I have the Garmin Nuvi. I forget the exact model, but it's worked out quite well. No complaints...

The Garmin Nuvi's and StreetPilot's are my favorite GPS's to use.

Just don't get one of those GPS transmitters and use your laptop for navigation while driving... That's dangerous!
