Recommend a roomy, plush full size sedan

My dad, an older gentleman, is looking for a car and we've changed the focus from suvs to large sedans. I think the domestic boat-like ride sedan would be right up his alley - you know, cars like the Crown Victoria with room to stretch and a trunk large enough for groceries, luggage, and a few hookers. I think we're looking from 2001 to 2006- what are some makes/models of reliable, roomy, and comfy full size sedans?

Crown Vic or Grand Marquis would be obvious choices.

You can get the last gen of these at good prices. If he wants some more performance get the Marauder.

Toyota Avalon...hell maybe even an LS430.

Those are nice but we're trying to keep the price below $15k, as low as possible frankly (they're retired). Also, to my eyes the avalon didn't seem much larger than a camry but I could be wrong.

You should easily be able to find Avalons for less than $15k

Thanks guys - thoughts on the Ford 500? Bland as hell but my dad's in his mid 70s, I think he'd find it more handsome than boring.

I have an 05 Police Interceptor... It is pretty nice, but stiffer suspension. For more creature comfort, obviously the regular Crown Vic, or Marquis is good. I drove an old Lincoln I think once, and it had no turning radius, at least the Crown Vic can turn.

Also, I saw a Mercury Montego, it looked like a nice car, had a used one from around 8 grand down at a dealership. AWD. I think it has a 6 under the hood. I didn't drive it, but it looked about the same size as the CV.

Ford 500 is same car as the Mercury Montego I mentioned below. But it had a better reception, better marketing. Not a lot of power, but I thought it looked comfortable.

Should be able to find them sub 10k, they were only made for a few years.

I'd say Charger, but if you're not buying new, forget it. They're not really worth considering before 2011.

Another vote for the LS430. If you could find one with low enough miles, I actually think the older LS400 is even better (they seem literally indestructible, I know an old dude that co-owns a guard services company/rentacop business, and his has over 700k miles on the original motor!).

Ford 500 would probably be cheapest for the $$, they are super comfy and tons of cabin space + trunk space. Reliable too. I know tons of retired folks who love them. They are kinda underpowered with the 3.0L but enough to get the job done.

Buick Park Avenue - Ultra edition if he wants the Supercharged 240HP 3800

FWD and bulletproof engine & trans

I'd avoid the Ford 500 with a CVT trans

Lincoln Continental - FWD luxo barge
