My MSI 990FXA-GD65 motherboard died last night while stress-testing, and I need something to replace it. Anyone have any suggestions? I have an FX-8350, and I'd like to run a modest overclock of 4.4Ghz or so.
I understand that the FX CPUs are power hungry and tend to pull even more power than what they're rated for... which is probably why my crummy MSI board couldn't handle it. I need something solid. 970 chipset is obviously out of the question. It doesn't need to be top-of-the-line either (I don't need a Sabertooth), but it at least needs to handle an FX-8350 under full load while delivering stable power.
Is a budget of under $200 reasonable?
The Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 looks reasonable for only $138. It's Rev. 4 too, with redesigned VRM heatsinks to handle the high-wattage FX processors. Again, I'm not looking to break any records. But I think 4.4Ghz is the sweet spot for my FX-8350. Just want something that can push it a little further and handle it well.
Thanks in advance.
