Hey all,

I'm looking for some recommendations on a good all-in-one Printer/Scanner/Fax.

I'd prefer a laser, and I've got a flexible budget, probably anywhere up to $300-400

Any thoughts, input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

My only suggestion is to stay far, far away from the all-in-ones, but I'm biased from two bad experiences with HP's OfficeJet all-in-ones.

I am now very happy with my Canon scanner, Canon inkjet, and HP laserjet.

I second that reply. If one goes down, you're up the creek w/o a paddle. Separate components are more reliable. All-in-ones are complicated mechanisms with too many possibilities of failure. Its your choice......

Laser takes out of the equation Color.

All in One are Bad for Office environment, but if used by one or two people in a relaxed environment they are very useful.

However if you need them for Networked system there are some additional considerations, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#AIO

Well we're looking to replace our current inkjet multifunction in our Engineering Society office. So it's not really a complete office environment, and only 5-10 people would be using it.

We figure it'd be cheaper to spring for an All-in-one as opposed to seperate machines (specifically from a cost standpoint)

i'm kinda in similar pit.
what i need is fax machine who use toner because it's cheaper than ribbons and better result and longer term than inkjet.
i used brother mfc 9180 and the toner cost so much. $30 bucks per catridge and it doesn't last up to 2200 pages like it said. so far only averaging two to three hundred pages. then i try to refill, but no refiller know how to handle brother's machines and they don't have the exact compatible toner in hand.
but the upside is the fax/all in one can be on 24hr and has memory to store incoming faxes.

couple people said to me to use computerized faxing system, but i never dvelved into it and i tried winfax pro, but it's not as robust and reliable as stand alone fax machine.

my guess is i'm out of tech age, so i'm asking you guys pointers on how to have a good system/machine that handle fax superbly and cost effective.

thank you in advanced ^^

I've found our Brother MFC-7420 to be quite satisfactory, it doesn't get really heavily used as there's only a few of us in the office, but all it's functions have worked fine for the last year and a half.

Laser MP's are alright but I still prefer color inkjets considering oem inks are dirt cheap. Better yet buy your own ink to save more. I highly recommend the Canon MP500. Very generic ink cartridges and easily refillable. MP500 costs less than $200.00

Actually you are in the same boat my parents were in. After seeing my laser printer, they wanted a laser printer back at home too, so after some research they decided they wanted to replace their fax machine and wanted a scanner for once. This called for an all-in-one.

For those that say stay away from all-in-ones, you're probably talking about HP Photosmarts or HP OfficeJets. Those are inkjets and we all know inkjets aren't uber or anything. That said, inkjet technology is at a point where they are mostly decent, so you can't go wrong getting an OfficeJet or Photosmart printer.

However, laser is definitely sexy. HP has some officejets I think that are laser capable. They start at a ripoff price though.

MY parents went out and bought the Brother MFC-5XXX. I forgot the number, but it was at Costco. It's pretty damn large, but its a copier with a automatic feed also. Laser printer, color scanner, fax machine also..... I like it. I just set it up for them during memorial day weekend and I tried printing. Looked pretty nice. I didn't get much chance to play around with it, but from what I used I think it was an awesome machine.

It was on sale at Costco last time with a rebate.... Good deal I say.

Definitely fits your price range. I think it was low 300s, or even under 300 with the rebate.. I forgot. Once you go laser, you can't go back to inkjet....

We sell a lot of Epson Stylus CX5800F which is a multi-functional all-in-one color printer and customers are quite happy with it and best of all it's about $160-170.

Also the HP 2575 and CAnon 830 are very popular... the HP 3210 is a good too.

i'm not a big fan of all-in-one, but if you're buying a printer i highly recommend Canon.

Avoid HP all in one lasers at all cost. Oddly, I've had better luck with their ink-jet all in ones.

Had nothing but exellent luck with all in one Canon devices - laser that is. You otherwise need to be shot for putting an ink-jet printer in an office environment.

in almost every roundup i've read on printers it seems most of the time canon printers are better, faster, and cheaper to run. Meaning uses less link and more efficiently. I would suggest just read alot of reviews on what your buying.
