recommend basic, quality screenshot app

hi guys,

i like my apps nuts-and-bolts...no embellishments

can you guys recommend a freeware/shareware screenshot app?

compact, no extra features, just quality screenshots.

FRAPS takes shots in a couple of formats, BMP, JPG and PNG

FRAPS. Also there's in game screen shot commands. Usually F12 or Prt-Screen (look at control menu).

If you want a jpeg or png in FRAPS you have to get the retial version. I don't think the free one will do it.

And on the desktop, just use prt-screen. Also, if you just want the selected window, I think it's shift+prt. scrn., OR alt+prt. scrn. OR ctrl+Prt. Scrn. Not really sure.

not necessarily for games, but for anything on my desktop.......or any program in my tray. i found a great app called "GIMP"....but it has photo-editing features and is too big....plus the screenshot resolution is low.

i want a simple scrrenshot-only app. know of any?

I used a program called SnagIt a while ago. Not sure if it's still updated.

why don't you use the print screen button? that copies whatever is on screen to the clipboard. then you go to paint and paste, and there is your picture. probably could paste in ms word directly, too. press alt-print screen to cap only the active window.

just a minor thing that you DO have to go paste it in some program. windows doesnt automatically save the image somewhere.

yep thats exactly how i do it, though it only captures one image at a time.
