Recommend good laptop for college student

I cry myself to sleep every night thinking about it...



I went through a refresh at my old job and they replaced the tower, keyboard, and mouse. Why? They were the basic, probably combo $15 model. Hundreds of computers, not to mention the trash generated. Cheaper to replace them as they go -- I've never had either fail on me.

We pretty much asked "why" ourselves. Went from core2duo to i3, but all the other specs were the same. All that, and only 4GB of ram. Even one of my servers that I built in like 2007 has 8GB of ram.

Only reason is because they were "due for renewal", no other reason. Stupid really. If you're going to replace machines at least go with something that will last like 10 years, but they literally have a plan in place to replace after x amount of years. So much wasted money.

Meanwhile they won't even buy us stationary lol.

I just bought a Lenovo 710s for $599+tax. Regular price is $799.
i5 cpu skylake, 1080p screen, 8gb rams, 128 SSD, 2.6 lbs, super thin bezels, decent battery life, nice built quality.
I was dead set on getting the XPS 13 or the new HP Spectre X360 and my wife leaned toward the X360 for around $900+tax but then HP pulled the 15% coupon out.
While waiting for HP to release another coupon, I stumbled upon this laptop.
Cheapest price possible for this type of Ultrabook.
