I'm moving to CA this summer and may need to buy a car, so I need some advice. My priorities are as follows:
1. Reliable: I want this car to cost me as little as possible in terms of repair & maintenance over the long term (I plan on keeping it 5+ years).
2. Fuel efficient: 35+ mpg highway.
3. Compact: I find small cars easier to drive and park.
4. Cheap: under $8,000.
5. Used: given my price range, this is pretty much a requirement. Preferably less than 10 years old and with less than ~90,000 miles.
In other words, I don't give a crap about any luxury features, how fast the car is, how cool it looks, or anything of that sort. I just want a simple commuter car that reliably and efficiently gets me from point A to point B. So far, the two obvious choices are the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic. What other cars should I be considering?
