I got Call of Duty 2 already in November:

Games I'm thinking of getting(new and some older games):
FEAR
Civilization IV
AOE III
BF2:Special Forces
Day of Defeat:Source(Already have CS:S)
Far Cry
Any other game(your recommendation)
I guess AOE III and Civilization IV are ahead on my list cuz I'm somewhat growing alittle bit tired of playing FPS games...but I wouldn't mind buying the others if they are really good and worth playing.

Civilization 4 - awesome game, and since you say you're bored of FPS it would be at the top of my list.

I was disappointed with the colonial setting of AOE4, they didn't make good use of it IMO... e.g. the muskets fire about the length of two horses and you can't get a shot in before you're charged. What's the point of having more modern weapons if they're gonna behave just like the old bows and arrows etc? (disclaimer: i only played the demo)

FEAR - eh, nothing special. multiplayer is full of cheaters
Civilization IV - dunno
AOE III - demo sucked. i liked Age of Kings though....
BF2:Special Forces - stay far far far away!
Day of Defeat:Source(Already have CS:S) - you have to be prone to shoot any gun with any accuracy.
Far Cry - i played through once. starts out ok but after that it gets old and ridiculous.

I have played them all and ... :
FEAR >> Strong AI , Awesome scary scenes , Crappy story line and good gun battle
Civilization IV >> Good but as cool good as CIV 2 was , i didn't like that much and only played it for 30hrs + on plane/train on my laptop. Not really worth $50 i think
AOE III >> take Age of empire + add a crappy home city crap + upgrade graphic = AEO 3
BF2:Special Forces >> really crap don't even bother
Day of Defeat:Source >> My fav online game at the moment , I love it to death and i have stopped playing BF2 for it and i never liked css as Dod is much cooler
Far Cry >> OLD with a crappy story line , weak AI , not so great after 2hrs of play but really good graphic and if you can buy it for $20 or less then its worth it

Other games i highly recommend :
Riddick escape from butcher bay >> My fav game of the year
Call of duty >> i always like how you play as team not as one dude doing all the destruction and some level just gets crazy )
Spellforce and expansion >> really carzy rpg + RTS theme to it
Freedom Force
KOTOR 1/2
Rise of nation
Darwinia

Civilization IV --> played a couple times, seems to significantly improve on civ3
AOE III --> nice game, campaign had some memorable moments but is very short
BF2:Special Forces --> only have the original
Day of Defeat:Source(Already have CS:S) --> have this, to be honest, haven't really played it
Far Cry --> if you haven't played this you should
Any other game(your recommendation)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted --> I enjoyed it more than the last one
Knights of the Old Republic --> if you haven't played this you should, 2nd game is only playable if your played the first one to prepare for the third one
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones --> Great game but can be beaten in under 10 hours
Rome: Total War --> this game is nuts, you need to patch it but yeah, wow
Rise of Nations --> some innovative features
Call of Duty 2 --> i never played the first one but I enjoyed the campaign, a little easy and fairly short but has a number of memorable moments

This is EXACTLY what I was gonna reply with. Seriously if you are getting a bit tired of FPS then Civ4 is excellent (I didn't dig AOE3, tho the first two were excellent) and I just like DoD:S so much that it is easily worth the minimal $20.

I <3 BF2 and play it in CAL, and I gotta say that Special Forces is a great expansion pack. It added what lacked in the original version: actual infantry combat. If you play a map on Warlord or Ghost Town you'll see what I mean. That being said, if you dont like BF2, then dont get the expansion pack. Either way, .
