Every version of Acronis has usually been better than its Norton counterpart. There are so many threads on this topic over the past 2 years that it boggles the mind.
Thanks for reminding me - I need to clone my laptop HDD. I have a duplicate drive in an external Firewire case - I clone internal to external using TrueImage's bootable CD.
PowerQuest used to be good - but they got sucked up by Symantec and no longer exist.

Hello guys, I want to make a backup of my new laptop hard disk and I'm not sure what to use. Norton ghost, Acronis or Powerquest?
Thanks
I guess the real question is, do you want to back up your drive (that requires a restoration operation) or clone your drive so you have a duplicfate drive ready to go, with no restoration except to connect it?

I want to back it up not clone it as I don't have an external hard disk. I think I will try Acronis because it gives you the option to create a bootable ISO/CD/DVD where you can add the image and it's posible to create the image from the boot cd and not only from Windows as Norton does. Thank you all for your ideas.
