I actually had a screwdriver for a breakfast a few months ago. With some eggs/bacon etc it was delicious.

Eh, I could drink it. I'd just let the ice melt a little. I've drank warm shitty vodka. Its not all the same to me, but I can get it down with ease. I usually do this for monetary reasons since I can put down quite a bit. No sense in buying 25 vodka sprites and then getting a hangover from all the sugar.

Like Scotch and want a Manly name? Try a Rob Roy. Several different ways to make them though and most "Bartenders" today never heard of them or cant/dont make them right. Know which one you like and ask/tell them how.

A slight twist on the Old Fashioned:

Scoop of sugar (or a cube)
Couple dashes of bitters (I use lemon bitters at home)
2oz Club Soda
Mull those ingredients together until the sugar is dissolved, then add a shot of bourbon and a maraschino cherry. Stir and enjoy.

I must thumbs up a Manhattan. They are so god damn good.

However, if you are in a relatively class free facility you will get something akin to motor oil if you try to order one along with a weird look from the 20 year old "bar tender" whose resume had three lines including name and address and a picture of her cleavage (or his abs as the case may be).

They are so simple to make, but so rare to get a great one unless you frequent places where the tenders wear a tie.

Gin & Ginger ale - it has to be made well, because a bartender who puts too much gin will kill the flavor. They're not doing anyone a favor by putting in extra alcohol.

When I used to drink a lot, I also liked tequila and grapefruit juice, especially when it's hot. Helps to quench the thirst...provides a nice buzz...

I was about to recommend a caipirinha as well. I will say that I make the best caipirinha I have ever tasted -- better than the ones at most Brazilian restaurants, including the ones I ate at IN Brazil.

I've never had a good one in the states though. You gotta go to Brazil to REALLY get one made well.

I think I make the best caipirinha I've ever tasted, and I've been to Brazil. I use more cachaça and sugar than most standard recipes call for and I think I generally nail it.
