I'm not sure if my current mult-vitamin (Centrum Performance) is doing too much, so I'm looking for alternatives.

Any suggestions?

Age: 25
Gender: Male
Type: Non-athletic, little overweight, starting to work out, sit at a computer most of the day

Also, anyone know of some good supplements for memory retention and such? I think ginko biloba (sp?) is one?

look for L-tyrosine at GNC. Its an amino acid that is a precursor for neurotransmitter synthesis. I have my mildly ADD son using it. We'd rather go this route than using drugs.

Paypal me $5 and I'll be happy to send you a big bottle of placebos. Effectiveness guaranteed, or your money back!

Okay... let me clarify... I'm looking for two separate things. 1 - Multivitamins 2 - Memory Enhancer

It seems everyone is focusing on #2... I would rather have a good suggestion for #1.

I have some multivitamins, but they are $122 or so for a 1 month supply. Uhhh all I have to say is it is friggggggin expensive.
Dunno about memory pills.

I read an article the other day (on Yahoo) that says that lots of people are getting too many vitamins and it's detrimental to their health. What's your diet like - are you sure you need more vitamins?

ARG so many people still buy crap from GNC, OVERPRICED CRAP!!!

OP make sure you have a good well rounded diet, and if you are working it that is even more important. A good multi should only supplementing and adding to the minerals you are getting from fresh vegetables etc. Centrum is fine for your needs, but if you are engaging in heavier activity such as weight lifting you might want to look into some more serious stuff.

there is nothing wrong with your centrum vitamins - what are you expecting to get out of a multivitamin? they aren't magic pills that suddenly give you energy and an amazing weight loss
the point of multivitamins is to augment your diet of what you're not getting. if you know you don't eat everything right and such, by all means take them. if you have a good balanced diet, outside of some trace elements, there isn't much necessity to them

..just get the super discount stuff at Costco. it's as good as any and comes in a jumbo sized jar. you could pass it around the neighborhood and still have sum left.

Only one person mentioned something about memory before your post.

Heh, I use centrum perf....

... mostly because I work at the biopharma company that produces them (wyeth) and i get the 150ct perf bottles for $5.00, and the 325ct regular bottles for $7.00

Solgar is the best I've used. I don't take it regularly though... only when work keeps me from eating fresh vegs and other good stuff.
