Get your vitamins in the diet. For the most part, if you eat healthyish you are getting all the nutrients/vitamins you need. However, if you feel you need a vitamin supplement please do not select the one with 500% Vitamin A or 18000% Vitamin C. Vitamin A is toxic in large quantities and Vitamin C only creates expensive urine. Essentially get one that is relatively moderate. Centrum is a good choice.

PS what differences are you expecting?

Walgreens (among others) stocks house brand versions of most of the major brands. I use their Stress Tab knockoff as it doesn't have all the heavy metals that some of the other brands carry. I don't need any more chromium, selenium, copper, etc. in my diet.

If you're using centrum and are unwilling to pay more, just don't take anything. Centrum isn't going to do anything for you. Why? Because you get those things from food. Because Centrums minerals are in economical forms that your body just can't absorb very well, and actually may be toxic.

http://www.centrumistoxic.com/

Also because vitamins are the tip of the iceberg in nutrients. There's more uncommon, but more powerful nutrients found in foods. ECGC in green tea. Resveratrol in red grapes. These are some well known examples. However, there's much more than that.

For example, let's look at the apple:

http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=15

See that nutritional info box? Not very impressive. A little vitamin C and fiber. But then look at the health benefits discovered in scientific studies. It does all sorts of things, like protect you from cancer, improve cholesterol levels, etc. Where does this all come from? Phytonutrients. I've had someone on these forums call me a nut and that Apples are empty calories. To that, I say refute:

The total antioxidant activity of 100 grams of whole apple (with the peel) was found to be equivalent to the antioxidant effect of about 1500 mg of vitamin C. (However, the amount of vitamin C in 100 g of apples is only about 5.7 mg. Nearly all of the antioxidant activity from apples comes from a variety of other compounds.)

And the scientific studies behind it.

So first, simply improve your diet. Eat some fresh spinach, broccoli, green tea. That alone will do so much more than centrum. But if you're wanting a great mutlivitamin and your willing to pay, then I'd recommend Xtend-life Men's Total Balance.

http://www.xtend-life.com/product_detail.php?product_id=6&lang_id=1&menu_id=15

Because they use bioavailable minerals without large megadosing. They also have a total of 80+ ingredients, making a broad array of powerful nutrients without giving you too much of any one thing.

But they're just pills. Nothing beats healthy food.

The vities sold at Costco are fine by me.

Rat studies validate most brands, so be alert if your nose starts to twitch & your feet scurry.

All bottled vitamins are good for just one thing... their placebo effect.

At least they make you think you are healthy, which in turn makes you feel healthy and more likely to eat well.

OP make sure you have a good well rounded diet, and if you are working it that is even more important. A good multi should only supplementing and adding to the minerals you are getting from fresh vegetables etc. Centrum is fine for your needs, but if you are engaging in heavier activity such as weight lifting you might want to look into some more serious stuff.

Agreed for the most part, but their vitamins are top notch. Look around...they are very highly regarded. There are cheaper vitamins that get the job done, but I have taken gnc mega mens for over a year and have never been sick or lack energy.

Nope, they are crap, unless you are extremely active (I am talking marathon runner) then you are pissing a lot of that out and wasting your money. Plus a recent study on vitamins suggests that absorbtion rate is less than 4%. Centrum is around 6$, Animal Pak is 40% for comparison. And, if you are a marathon runner, then there are much better vitamins to take (mega man's B complex sucks), but yes they are still better than the average multi.

Menshealth.com did an article on the best mutli-vitamins. And they suggest Centrum Silver...ignore the for 50+ adults on the Centrum silver bottle as it is good for young men as well. ( I believe because of the extra amount of Vitamin E?)

Its cheap and has everything I could get from all the over priced GNC garbage.

That website is almost as poorly designed as the old timecube website.

I wouldn't trust any information from menshealth. GNC's vitamins are more, but compare the labels--it has a much better blend of ingredients. Centrum is the true garbage...it's full of fillers. But come to think of it...I really don't care if my point gets across, lol.
