Recommend me some steakhouses in Cambridge/Boston

Hi folks,
I'd like to get a steak up here in the Boston/Cambridge area, but I'm not familiar with any of the offerings.

Could anyone with some experience suggest a few places? I'm looking for a price-point on the level of Ruth's Chris (so about $30-40 for the standard filet).

Also, I don't have a car so it'd be nice if the location is easily accessible via the T or bus system.

TIA,
-Eric

x2

Additionally, I think Smith and Wollenski's in The Castle in Park Plaza
(Take Green line to Arlington T Stop)

Capital Grille is on Newbury Street
(Take Green line to Hynes Convention Center)

Grille 23 is a block away from S&W
(Take Green line to Arlington T Stop)

Mortons is on Boylston St
(Take Green line to Copley T Stop) <- I think (I usually just walk)

They are all within walking distance of each other if you want to gorge and try all of them for a grand minimum spending of 200$

yowolabi: I've eaten at Ruth's Chris in Cary, NC and while I thought it was pretty awesome, I'm looking to try something new (even though I wouldn't be surprised if the experience is different up north...).

DeviousTrap, Tiamat: Wow that will take me like a year to get around to all of those. (I'm a college student, but you can be extravagant occassionally...) The menus all sound delicious. Thanks for the directions Tiamat--saving me the trouble of having to figure it out myself, lol.

These restaurants are very nice and a delight. Their bartenders know how to make drinks correctly, and the service is impeccible.

Stockyard

A little outside of Boston, but worth it. The $25 king cut prime rib will make you forget about all the fancy steakhouses.

Everyone is recommending chains. What the hell? You can eat at those anywhere.

But then again, you're asking for a filet, which might be the most boring cut of meat next to a boneless, skinless chicken breast (I'd argue the chicken has more flavor).

If you're after a filet, go anywhere. It's hard to screw up.

If you want a real cut of meat, The Butcher Shop (on Tremont) or The Stockyard as bigdog suggested will do it. It's probably not as nice a place as the chains, so you might have to weigh taxing that expense account vs eating something good. Or go to Craigie Street Bistrot and have a nice, expensive meal. I'm not being sarcastic on either. I was at Craigie maybe 5 months ago, and it's one of the better French restaurants on the east coast.

I'm only ragging on you because you asked for a filet, try the ribeye (the cadillac of meats, as many chefs put it). As for everyone who recommended mortons, ruth chris, capital grille, etc. Come on. You can find those anywhere. The two I suggested are one of a kind to Boston. Except for you, bigdog, Stockyard is on my list of places for my next visit to Boston, I've heard a lot of good things.

I only recommended these places because they are extremely accessible (2 minutes walk) with the public T system. If he had a car/rental then I would have definitely opened up to the places that are a couple miles away from the public T system

In any case, they are all a delight to eat at. You really can't go wrong.

While Rib eyes are definitely nice, sometimes you just gotta go for the 32oz Porterhouse...

mmmmm....

Well, im going to rag on you. You can pick up a nice cut at the butcher shop in the south end, but they will NOT cook it for you. This place is like a tapas place without the spanish influence. That is they do not have "meals" available. for misinformation.

Saugus != boston/cambridge.
