The band on my trusty timex finally gave up the ghost and well, I think it's time to move onto something a bit nicer than that. The problem is I don't know enough about the 'nicer' watches to know if I'm getting decent products. I was looking at Fossil watches and generally like their styles. Is Fossil a good brand(does have 15yr warranty)? I basically want something of decent quality not more than ~$100 and sort of 'sporty', ie: nothing flashy, shiny, etc. I'd more than likely go with something of darker colors, black, dark grey, etc.

I'd say look at Skagen brand, I've loved the watch I have from and I've had it for the better part of a decade now. Fossil is kind of like the "American Eagle" of watches as far as styling is concerned, can't speak to their quality though.

The long hand is the minutes and the little hand is the hours. If its digital and you're confused well I can't help you.

timex vs tag heur, they both tell time the same but you feel less sadness when one of them breaks

There are 3 types: Mechanical, electrical, or sun dial. Jk.

Depend on your taste. There are the classic type with hand movements or the electronic type with LCD display.
If you like classic type, some of the brand I like are Movado, stella antea 365, tag heur.

They are obsolete and the only people that wear them anymore are douchebags and used car salesmen.

I use mine to tell time and the date. It is waterproof and I never have to take it off. I have a plain mechanical Timex, and never saw the point of a watch as a status symbol.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Generally Seiko and Citizen make awesome watches with modern and complicated quartz movements. These two brands are WAY better than fossil or any of the cheaper (designer) type watches you will find. These will generally run you between $100-$500 depending on features, etc).

Casio makes some nice watches also... but their style is ... Special.

Doesn't sound like your ready to hear an argument for a $1K swiss made auto watch... So, I would say stick with quartz but if you want a nice watch, buy quality ad not a cheaper fashion watch.

I'll look into these, thanks!

A watch dealer told me just the other day 'Fossils are good for about 2 years.' Maybe he was referring only to digital Fossils like mine, or maybe the brand in general. :hmm:
Just thought I'd pass that tidbit along.

My suggestion is always the same to this question (at least for a guy's watch) - The Calibre 9000
