I've decided on all but three parts for my new computer and would like some recommendations. Here are the parts I've decided on already.

CPU: E6400 - $222
MB: GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 v3.3 - $123
RAM: OCZ Platinum Rev2 2GB DDR2 800 - $155
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB - owned
CASE: Antec 900 - owned
LCD: Dell 2005FPW - owned

I was told I should replace my old Ultra V Series 500W PSU. I plan to OC my CPU to 3.2GHz. I'll be gaming at 1680x1050. Here's what I have in mind for my remaining three parts.

PSU:
1: SeaSonic S12-430 - $90
2: SeaSonic M12 SS-500HM - $125
3: ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT - $115
GPU: EVGA 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked - $300
HSF: Thermaltake Big Typhoon - $47

I'm planning on buying soon and would like to weed out any possible oversights on my slection. There are so many PSUs to consider and I'm not sure if it's worth spending $300 on a 8800GTS rather than just getting a cheap GPU for now and waiting for DX10 card prices to lower.

All help is appreciated.

Wait until April if you can for the Video card. Nvidia will be releasing its new additions to the GF8 series and ATI will be releasing their R600 chips, so prices will come down a bit. Also if you wait until April, the E6400 should drop 40 bucks and will have 4mb cache.

For the PSU, any of your choices are good. If you don't care about the looks, get an Enhance 500w from ewiz. It's the best PSU for 70 bucks. However, I have the same case as you and I'll get a sleeved PSU. I'm going to get the Corsair 520w, but the Seasonic m12 and enermax are also great.

I did alot of research and I'd get the Tuniq tower for a HSF. With the 900 case, the tower lines up perfectly with the exhaust fan. If you get the thermaltake, its not going to have much clearence against the side of the case.

Another vote for the Corsair (by Seasonic). The 620W can be had for $125, the 520 for $99, both after MIR.

Also, I'm using a Zalman 9500 and like it a lot. Good choice for those concerned about the extreme weight of some of these new HSF's.

Thanks for the advice guys. I decided on the Corsair HX520W and the Tuniq Tower. I would normally wait until April for the GPU/CPU, but my current computer's motherboard stopped working. This leaves me on a temporary computer with a 20GB HDD and XP2500+ CPU. I can't play any games with this computer and therefore would have 1-2 months of gaming downtime.

Considering the potential lack of a gaming computer for 1-2 months, I figured it might be worth getting a mid-range GPU for now and upgrade when a good value dx10 card arrives.

edit:

I found a better deal on the (8800GTS 320MB - $273 Shipped AR).
I was also considering getting the (X1900GT - $125 AR) then waiting for April price drops for DX10.

Wow I just placed the order yesterday on an almost identical system. For PSU I got the Antec Greenwatts 500W which is the same as the Seasonic 500W - cost me $50 AR. I got the Leadtek 8800 GTS 640MB for $339 AR. I went with the Scythe Infinity for the HSF.

I would say spend the extra $40 and get the 640 MB version of the 8800 GTS. Well worth the $$. Also from my research I would go with either the Infinity or the Hyper 6+ for the HSF. The BT is ok but gets beaten consistently in the reviews by these ones.
