I agree, the title says it all. You need a book on grammer.

Seriously though, I like Robert B Parker's Jesse Stone books.

If you want easy/quick reading try Robert Parker's Spenser books.

Neil Gaiman and Neil Stephenson are both worth reading. I'd start with Neverwhere and Snowcrash respectively. None of the Sci-Fi I've read lately has been worth reading. If you're looking for light reading, I recommend The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

+1 This is a very good, light read

I can't justify recommending anyone give OSC more money... the guy's batshit insane with homophobia and his mormon beliefs overpower his fiction at times.

I'm reading the True Blood series right now... pretty enjoyable light reading, though I find myself skipping over most of the sex scenes because they hold no interest for me.

also another George RR Martin recommendation if you want to delve into fantasy. Song of Fire and Ice is A++

Lee Child's Jack Reacher series is pretty good. At least the earlier ones are.

"The girl with the dragon tattoo" is a great mystery book. Check it out on Amazon.

I can recommend anything by Christopher Moore.

Practical Demonkeeping (1992) Orbit Book Co. ISBN 9781841494470
Coyote Blue (1994) Simon & Schuster ISBN 0-06-073543-0
Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story (1995) Simon & Schuster ISBN 0-684-81097-2
Island of the Sequined Love Nun (1997) Avon ISBN 0-06-073544-9
The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove (1999) Harper Collins ISBN 0-06-059027-0
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (2002) HarperCollins Publication ISBN 0-380-81381-5
Fluke, or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings (2003) William Morrow & Company ISBN 0-380-97841-5
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror (2004) William Morrow & Company Publication ISBN 0-06-084235-0
A Dirty Job (2006) (awarded The Quill Book Award for General Fiction for 2006) Harper Collins ISBN 0-06-059027-0
You Suck: A Love Story (2007) William Morrow ISBN 0-06-059029-7
Fool (2009) William Morrow ISBN 0-06-059031-9

I wind up laughing audibly every couple of pages all the way through each of his books -- even on a second or third reading.

The dialog in these stories is good enough to more than match the best of the madcap comedies of the 30s and 40s. They ought to make them into movies.

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett was an extremely easy and enjoyable read.

I just finished "The Last Colony" which is the final book in John Scalzi's Old Man's War trilogy. All three books are highly recommended.

I also just finished relistening to the audiobook version of "Job: A Comedy of Justice" by Heinlein. A really really excellent and easy to read book if you're into that kind of thing. Actually it's probably what brought my first suggestion to mind as they have a similar feel to them, though "Job: A Comedy of Justice" is not quite as funny as "Good Omens" and "Good Omens" is not quite as smart as "Job: ACOJ".

Also second the recommendations for Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide, not Dirk Gently) and George R.R Martin.

For some lightweight, quirky crime novels, you could try the Hitman series by Lawrence Block. Or perhaps some Elmore Leonard (I liked Rum Punch and Tishomingo Blues).

Guess not. Some are able to hold more than one train of thought in their heads.

Anne Stilman - a very easy read.

Nice recommendation.

I spend may day re-reading my emails at work. I just don't care to do it here.

Thanks for all the good recommendations!

I asked the wife pick up Ender's Game but she ended up with Ender's Shadow. Okay to read that one first?

Also picked up 1984 - its about time I read this classic. Also requested any book bu Scott Turow and ended up with one about heroes but the title escapes me at the moment and I'm too lazy to walk to the bedroom.

I'm reading a book called Weapons of Choice by John Birmingham. It's about a 21st century Naval battle group that gets pulled back in time to the battle of Midway. It's been entertaining so far. I just bought a Kindle, and it was free.

Read Ender's Game first for sure. You don't want to ruin it

Ender's Game first, please.
1984, and Brave New World, both fantastic classics.

Peter F. Hamilton - The Dreaming Void / The Temporal Void

If you want to go lighter than that, Robert Heinlein's The Number of the Beast is a good choice.

Oh my - the hate, the hate.

I wonder if there are any gay mormons - talk about internal conflict...

Try Terry Pratchett's discworld series. They do have fantasy elements but the humor is enjoyable.
