I've seen some LED based flash lights that will do about 100 lumens and last 20+ hours. anything else out there better than this?

think I found one: link

it's the last one in that page

100 lumens for 20+ hours is good depending on what size it is. My inova xo3 is only good for 80 lumens for 2+ hours.

Sounds like lumen inflation

Do these LED flashlights have names? What kind of batteries do they use?

Show me an LED flashlight with 100 constant OTF lumens for 20 hours. A lantern with many D cells, possibly. A flashlight? Doesn't exist.

With that out of the way, you need to provide a lot more information about what you are looking for. Cost? Size? Use? Runtime needed? Batteries preferred? Output level(s) desired?

I personally like the ones that when I flip the switch, put out some sort of light.

I was actually looking into one of those hand cranking ones with a battery back up. Walmart had one for $8, should of grabbed it.

Surefire
Pelican
Inova
Streamlight
Fenix

Surefire used to be the bar by which others were measured. They still make very good lights, but theres also stiff competition. I own 3 surefires and 1 other brand i cant remember right off. My next light will be a Fenix.

one that uses a ton of D cells if you want that kind of run time. dunno about brightness either. probably something more like a bo staff instead of a night stick.

I have the P1D CE, L2D CE, & L1D CE

The L1D CE is the best balance between size, light output, and uses AA batteries.
