Recommend wheels for my car.

Pic of the car

I don't want stupidly large cartoonish looking wheels... 17 inch are the biggest I'd ever consider... 16 inch is probably more realistic cause I don't want such low profile tires that I feel every stone in the road. Also would prefer to keep it under $400 for the whole set.

Not looking for rice... just something classy that's better than cheesy stock wheel covers. Would also prefer something that won't show off my stock brakes since I haven't had a chance to paint the calipers, pads, and rotors  hehe

Feel free to photoshop that picture and show me what your suggestions would look like... in fact, I encourage that

it's a mirage... not that it's a terrible car but rims on a mirage would just make it look... mexican.

i'd save the money towards a future car. say... G35 coupe in 5 years? WRX?

Well like I said, I don't want to spend much on them... but I'm going to have it for a while, so a few hundred bucks on wheels to make it look a little more decent is worth it.

tirerack.com has a thing where you can select your car and view wheels on it. I would suggest Borbet type B

I hate that paint color...

And what size are your stock rims? They look like either 14s or 15s. 17s would look absolutely ridiculous on it.
Anywho, painting your calipers and stuff is pretty pointless most of the time. The paint either chips, peels, or LIGHTS ON FIRE!

Oh, and I hope you don't paint your brake pads or your brake rotors... otherwise, "you be dead."

Personally, don't spend money on rims for the sake of rims. Mebbe if you want them so you can run snow tires and summer tires... besides, there isn't much choice in aftermarket wheels styles... it's either racy or blingy. You'd be happier with a new gadget or mebbe some in-car-entertainment upgrades.

Awesome, thanks.

Those are decent, but I don't think they cover up enough of the brakes... after looking at those, I think 15 inch are as large as I'd go... 16's start to look silly, and 17's definately look silly.

The painting was a joke =)

I sorta like the paint color... except it needs a new paint job, lots of stone chips and scratches.

Anyway... I'll need new tires in a year or so probably... the car only has 30,000 miles on it, but the tires look like they have about 60,000 miles of wear... when I find my tread depth guage I'll check and see exactly how much tread is left... but I live in Michigan and drive in snow, so I don't like to let the tires wear down too much anyway or traction in the snow becomes a problem. But I figured, if I'm putting new tires on, it would be a good time to get new wheels too. I'll probably have the car for another 5+ years as long as it holds up, which I don't think will be an issue. Also be doing some minor performance mods too, mainly for better gas mileage... I hear some of the 4-2-1 headers available for it give another 2-3 mpg because they improve low end torque so much.

Oh by the way, the stock wheels are 14 inch.

I recommend finding some Mitsubishi factory wheels from another car with same bolt pattern for cheap and throw on your car.

Sounds like a trip to Tirerack to pick up some summer tires on rims is in order. Then buy a set of winter/snow tires to go on your steelies. You'll be a boatload safer in bad weather. Dedicated snow tires are WORLDS better than "all-seasons."

A nice K&N drop-in replacement filter is probably fine. I'm not sure if you wanna live with the crappy sound of a non-turbo 4banger with a header and no exhaust... it will still sound crappy.

Besides, you should be able to do an easy visual inspection of the tread wear left... just look for the wear bars and see how close you're getting.

I don't think the header will change the sound a whole lot since the stock manifold is pretty much just a cast iron header... from what I've read online, the stock exhaust system does a good job of muffling noise without sounding like a 3500 lb bumble bee no matter what type of exhause manifold you have.

I thought about the snow tires... but seeing as how I'm in Michigan and it's pretty flat here I don't think I really need actual snow tires. All seasons work fine, but you can definately tell when you're driving a car with worn out tires.

I'll probably get a K&N filter when this one I have gets dirty. I bought the car from my brother, and he never changed it, so it was dirty as hell, and the gasket was torn, and while driving back here in it from PA I kept hearing this whistling sound... found out it was air coming in where the gasket was torn, so I found an autozone and bought a filter... for $30!!! Geeze... expensive damn things... I miss the $5 paper circle my 77 Cutlass used

Those Borbet Type B's come in 15x6.5 and 15x7... why are the 15x7's $10 cheaper? Harder to find tires to fit that size??? I would have thought the wider wheels would be more expensive.

why won't that pos site load ?

nvm.. it loaded.

the one you photoshopped on looks pretty sweet.
17's would be over doign it tho.
why not just get some decent 15's ?

I thought about getting 18's for my car, but too many potholes and I dont want to deal with bent rims and such so I figure i'd just go 17".
