Recommendation for a GPU swap?

Hey all. I've got a Radeon 7950 (Sapphire) but I want to try an nvidia GPU to see if it helps with some problems I'm having. I want to sell mine and buy a used nvidia card to keep the cost minimal. Something with roughly the same power, or a slight upgrade. I haven't been following graphics cards for a couple of years, so could anybody recommend a good one for this purpose, or any I should specifically avoid? How about specific manufacturers? Thanks a lot.

A GTX 960 4GB generally matches a 7950 on average in performance, but risks being slower in a game that might favor an AMD card. But it meets the definition of "roughly the same power" if power=performance. A GTX 970 is significantly faster and may be what you should be seeking if you don't want to risk any performance loss.

I've been playing Farm Simulator 2015 - DON'T JUDGE, my 2-year old loves playing it with me Anyways, it freezes/crashes constantly. It's really a drag.

Before replacing the video card, I'd make sure to try returning your system to stock settings (CPU, GPU, and memory, if you've done any tweaking). Judging from your signature, you're running a very high overclock on a relatively old CPU. It could be losing stability.

Likely your overclocking is the culprit for your freezing issues. Back off a bit on that and check your CPU paste and go from there.

I think you guys were spot on about the CPU overclocking. I set it back to defaults and have given it a few days of testing without any problems at all. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
